As we all know that mask is the most important component to fight against COVID 19 but majority of the population is not getting it. They are using either napkins or any piece of cloth but it will not suffice for their protection. As per time people are going back to their normal routine specially the daily wagers, farmers and labors. We need to secure their medical security by providing free masks to them. 
 We have engaged the poor self help group members to produce mask in a large scale. We have done capacity building program for them. We supplied the raw materials and they are producing the masks. With the donation we will circulate the masks among the underprivileged people for free. 
 The project will ensure free masks for the poor and it will help to empower the underprivileged women by providing an alternative livelihood generating method. We can reach huge beneficiaries through this model in terms of both medical and financial security. We have already reached more than 1700 underprivileged beneficiaries through this project.

Community & Rural Development

Before going to the discussion, let me introduce my organization, Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage (KSCH). It is a leading social enterprise in Eastern India is working in the fields of environment and sustainability. We believe in 3P’s - Prevention, Protection &amp; Preservation. Also, we have been doing livelihood development activities through cultural promotion. Our core team members are devoted to improving the socio-economic conditions of Artisans and farmers in Eastern India.For more than 4 years we have been operating our social development pertaining to reduce the human &amp; wild interactions, self-reliance of women self-help groups in forest fringe villages at Sundarban. But during the COVID pandemic, super cyclone Amphan has dismantled the lives and livelihoods of Sundarban. More than 30 lakhs people have lost their jobs, numerous houses have been ruined and due to the increase in salinity agricultural activities have been hampered. Also, due to the detrimental effects of natural catastrophe (Amphan), the bio-diversity of the Sundarban is on the way to extinct. 
 Outline of Our Project:1. We have initiated our mangrove plantation drives in three blocks at Sudarban (Samshernagar, Hingalgunj and Gosaba).2. In this project, more than 2,560 economically distressed people from almost 512 Amphan affected families will be getting jobs to sustain their livelihoods.3. Yearly, we are planning to cultivate more than 4 Lakhs Mangroves through our village-level rural nurseries. Local affected people will be taking care of the maintenance and operations of these nurseries. We will be helping them by providing techno-managerial supports. 4. Till now we have planted over 12,000 mangroves and more than 2 Lakhs seeds are already being implanted in the nurseries. We collected near about 6 lakhs mangrove seeds so far.5. Our initiative has begun under the banner of - "The Community Forest" - Sustainable plantation initiative led by the community to restore the Mangrove forestry of Sundarban.6. The project will help to generate 2 crore rupees for these rural people per year. Any interested people can also join this action by donating 50 rupees for each sapling. This is a community led event any person from community can contribute.7. We are addressing seven Sustainable Development Goals, identified by United Nations. They are, GOAL 1: No Poverty, GOAL 2: Zero Hunger, GOAL 5: Gender Equality, GOAL 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, GOAL 13: Climate Action, GOAL 15: Life on Land and GOAL 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goal.8. We initiated the project on 28th July 2020, the day when UNESCO accredited Sundarbans as one of their World Heritage Sites. Also it is World Nature Conservation day. 
 Possible outcome of the project:1.      Income generation for the poor.2.     Heritage and culture preservation of Sundarban.3.     We are also promoting the age old culture related to Mangroves.4.     Mangroves will help to maintain water quality.5.     Mangroves help to defend the coastal lives of Sundarban.6.     The project will help to develop the biodiversity of Sundarban.

The Community Forest to Restore Biodiversity of Sundarban

We are Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage, working to improve the lives of rural people in West Bengal. We are working to foster the socio-economical structures by using different methods. Last year we organized an extensive COVID relief program. We provided support for more than 2lakhs of underprivileged people.This year with 352,991 new cases, India's total caseload crosses 17 million, while deaths rise by record 2,812 to reach a total of 195,123. India has set a new global record for a rise in daily coronavirus cases for a fifth straight day, while deaths from COVID-19 also jumped by an all-time high over the last 24 hours on Monday.Continuing with its one-week trend of recording new single-day high, West Bengal on Monday logged 8,426 new Covid-19 cases and 38 deaths linked to the virus. Kolkata witnessed its highest one-day spike with 2,211 cases followed by 1,801 in North 24 Parganas.In this very particular circumstance the demand of Oxygen is getting increased a lot and supply is limited. To combat the situation we Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage is organizing free oxygen distribution and food support to the COVID affected patients. Here to start with we are procuring 100 Oxygen Cylinders for the COVID affected patients. 
 Outline of Our Project:We have already created 3 dedicated helplines (24-hr) to receive requests for O2, 24 volunteers have been allocated to receive orders and deliver cylinders. We have also partnered with a factory to refill the cylinders free of cost and redistribute. Therefore after the initial cost of buying the cylinders, this project is self-perpetuating. 
 Outcome of the project:1.     We procured 37 Cylinders till now.2.     Till now saved 1,114 lives.3.     We have disbursed more than 25,000 canisters.

Oxygen for Kolkata

Eastern India have seen unprecedented damage of livelihood, land and life. In India, Super cyclone Amphan is yet to be declared a national disaster. Moreover, the Sunderbans--a unique ecosystem that has been under threat in the last many years from undesirable economic development--is severely damaged in the face of super cyclone Amphan. 
 This fundraiser is raising money to buy ration and food supplies for the workers who have been devastated by the Amphan cyclone and economically hurt by the covid crisis. All money raised will be spent to the Amphan victims on the ground by distributing need-based ration to severely affected by the double blow of Amphan super-cyclone destroying homes, crops and livelihoods, on top of COVID paralyzing the economy and income of daily wage-workers. Your contribution will be used to set up community kitchens, buying tarpaulin, rice, oil, pulses, potatoes, soya bean and other basic dry food ration. 
 Till now we have adopted 8654 families at different areas of the affected areas. Our target is to support 50,000 families.

Relief for Amphan Super Cyclone

Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage (KSCH) is a social enterprise functioning at the grass root level for the permanent developmental changes of rural, urban and tribal areas of India. We believe that livelihood is the most important component of any sustainable developmental model. If we can improve economic conditions in the rural and tribal areas then we can automatically address other social aspects like Education, Health and Sanitation.Hence, our immediate focus is on the development of existing livelihood including Agriculture, Horticulture, Fish Harvesting and Poultry that are prevalent in these rural and tribal areas. We provide technical assistance for the development of Education,Health, and Sanitation. We are also working towards providing a platform for traditional folk music, dance and artifacts as livelihood generating mechanisms for rural people. We encourage community led developmental programs to foster growth and awareness within the communities.
