The utilization of blood and blood components is increasingly becoming an important and indispensable component of clinical care, especially in the surgically-related fields. In line with this emphasis the patient safety when facing shortages in blood and its components, they have to seek assistance from other blood banks. There is a lack of blood banks that are well organized and can bridge the gap between donor and receiver. In times of emergencies, the patients needed a quick response for their blood requests. There are a lot of instances where patients die due to the non-availability of blood at the right time. In some cases, there may be wastage of blood and blood components due to improper manner of storing.  
 As a solution to this problem, we intend to set up a blood bank in Kanabargi, Belagavi and will try to solve the issue related to the availability of blood and blood components. The solution tries to make the best optimization of blood distribution. The main target of establishing a blood bank is to establish new policies/procedures in order to manage, control the process of requesting or donating blood and maintain the quality with high standard. We will design this blood bank as it should bridge the gap between the donor and the receiver. Also, it will be functional in such a way that it should respond quickly to the needs of the patients. The blood units are preserved and well maintained so that a single drop of blood should get wasted.  
 The blood bank will help to make a proper distribution of blood and will save many people’s precious lives every day. This is expected to help thousands of needy people every day.

Children

There are over 3800 HIV+ children in Belagavi district. Most if not all of them are from extremely poor families and some are orphans. After the basic needs of food, shelter and medicine they need education in order to become self reliant in their life. The challenge is that the current education makes children literate but capable only to work in an office. They need job skills and life skills during their schooling that would make a difference in success and failure in their lives. Currently, Mahesh Foundation runs a school up to 5th standard and would like to extend the classes up to 10th standard. But, there is no enough space to extend the classes and we intend to build a new premises. 
 Mahesh Foundation’s Residential School is quite unique. The uniqueness of the school comes from the educational philosophy that is a combination of JK’s philosophy and multiple intelligence theory. Our approach will enable a child to learn using its innate curiosity and choose the areas that naturally attract the individual child. Along with the subject education, there will be emphasis on SQ and EQ development.		 
 The limited facility at our current hostel restricts us from offering shelter to more than 60 kids. The new hostel will house about 50 HIV+ orphans, providing succour to many needy kids. We will be truly able to make an impact on the lives of these kids by providing them with life skills that will enable them to lead a normal life. In addition we will be providing free education to children from nearby slum and village too. We expect our school to have a long term impact on the education and life of surrounding hundreds of families.

A School for Underprivileged

There are over 3000 HIV+ kids in Belagavi district alone that need support in terms of Nutrition, Education, Medicine and in some cases Shelter also. Quite a lot of these children have lost their parents to HIV and are orphans. Mahesh Foundation provides a shelter to about 40 orphans in Ashakiran Home at Belagavi. But there is a need for shelter for hundreds more HIV+ Children. We are building a new hostel cum school to accommodate these children. We are seeking financial support for enlightening their lives. 
 Mahesh Foundation provides Education, Nutrition, Medical support to over 1800 needy children. We also run a shelter for about 40 children with 50% girls in it. We are conducting AIDS/HIV awareness programs in 28 schools. We also offer a mechanism to handle discrimination for people living with HIV . We are starting skilling programs for HIV+ youth in order to make them self sufficient. 
 We have taken in children from 4 years of age and in critical health. We have not lost even one child in 7 years of our operation thus proving that kids with HIV can lead a long and productive life. We have saved widows from ending their life or getting into prostitution by counseling them at the right time. Currently 40 children are getting shelter at Mahesh Foundation, over 1800 kids get educational support and 350 kids get nutritional supplement.

Support an HIV+ Child

Our approach will enable a child to learn using its innate curiosity and choose the areas that naturally attract the individual child. Along with the subject education, there will be emphasis on SQ and EQ development. We have dedicated 2 floors of the building for classes with lots of open spaces where a child learns while playing. We are building residential areas to accommodate 60 children in the same building. 
 The limited facility at our current hostel restricts us from offering shelter to more than 40 kids. The new hostel will house about 60 HIV+ orphans, providing succour to many needy kids. We will be truly able to make an impact on the lives of these kids by providing them with life skills that will enable them to lead a normal life. In addition we will be providing free education to children from nearby slum and village too. We expect our school to have a long term impact on the education and life of surrounding hundreds of families.

As per the recent guidelines of the Child Welfare Department, all the CCIs (Child Care Institutes ) in India should have separate premises for boys and girls. They have also given a one-year deadline to do so. Hence, Mahesh Foundation is working hard to ensure that the children should not lose shelter. So, we are building a separate care home for girls. 
 Mahesh Foundation is not ready to abandon those children and is proposed to build a new facility for girls. We have the land beside our existing premises as it will help us in monitoring from the place where we are located. The new premises include accommodation facilities as well as kitchen and dining facilities for the children. Also, all other facilities that are needed for the girl children.The children can easily have access to education and other facilities such as computer labs, library, and classrooms as the current premises are just beside the proposed new building. It could benefit more than 20 girl children currently and it could provide accommodation to around 100 children. 
 The proposed Girls Hostel helps the abandoned and orphan HIV-infected girl children to ensure safe accommodation. Most of the children are orphans or single parents they do not have support in their families. We have taken complete responsibility for the children. They will get accommodation as well as support until they attain a certain age. We equally prefer education of the girl children along with boys. So, they will get quality education as the proposed hostel is just beside our school and it will ensure the school of the children. The overall development of the girl children taking into account the mental, physical, social growth. There is a lack of hostels for the girls and especially for HIV-infected girls. These children are not permitted to admit into such hostels. Hence, our efforts in providing shelter will benefit them.

Disaster Relief

India mourns one death every minute. The current situation is a grave humanitarian crisis as the lethal second wave of the COVID-19 is devastating the country. The number of critical positive cases has put a strain on the country’s healthcare system. Patients are in dire need of resources such as oxygen, beds, medicines and more. Every day more than lakh cases are reported and the healthcare facility in India is gasping. Belagavi is one of the worst hit districts in Karnataka. All medical supplies are running out. Hospitals in Belagavi are full and  people are dying due to the scarcity of oxygen. We, Mahesh Foundation, want to break this cycle by quickly providing oxygen and helping them recover. We are working day and night 24X7 providing oxygen cylinders free of cost to the needy.  
 We, at Mahesh Foundation, have come forward to leverage the power to help support Belagavi in its time of need. Every day we distribute oxygen cylinders to more than 200 patients and help them to breathe. Belagavi needs your help. It needs it now.  
 The demand is huge and it requires a lot of infrastructures. We have 200 oxygen cylinders with us but that is not sufficient as we require 500 more cylinders to provide them to the more needy. We are also providing free food to the COVID-19 patients and their attendants. We have set up an Isolation Center for the children of different orphanages and will provide them medical treatment free of cost. HELP BELAGAVI BREATHE

Doubtless, education is the catalyst for social change. Education is central to all and especially to HIV-positive and underprivileged children who are in the fight against poverty and discrimination. However, access to these underserved strata is low. This is because of several reasons. The first cause is poverty itself for the underprivileged and slum children. Mahesh Foundation built the school premises and commenced the school in 2018. The school has classrooms up to 8th standard and there is a need of the hour to ensure the continuation of education of these children and to educate more children in the coming days.  
 Mahesh Foundation has its own premises, infrastructure facility, and a good learning environment for the children. Mahesh Foundation is seeking support for the operational cost of educating these 400+ children. We have built a well-facilitated school with all the infrastructure facilities that the children required such as classrooms with smart boards, benches, computer labs, Mini Science Lab, we provide mid-day meal, school stationery and books, bags and also a safe transportation facility. The support we require is for the educational cost of these children.  
 400+ medically challenged and underprivileged children will get free and quality education in the coming years.It would ensure the continuation of education up to 8th std for these deprived children.Inspire other children in the community to enroll in the school and get an education.Child labor, begging, rag-picking, and unfair activities are eliminated due to the lack of educational facilities.
