“The abusers insert a candle or fingers in the vagina of children torture them. If the children don’t relent even then, the abusers put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. When children stay in these conditions, it is painful even to hear,” says Lalitha SA of the Society for Participatory Integrated Development (SPID), while talking about many heart-rending stories of trafficked children in red-light areas. In over three decades, the team of SPID led by Lalitha, has saved over 3000 children from the red-light areas in Delhi, such as GB Road, and many from clutches of sex trafficking. While Lalitha has also helped many women escape the clutches of being forced into sex work, the SPID is focused on rescuing children and giving them a better life.Sadly, many more children need to be rescued and need a loving home. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. I had even seen my friend’s 15-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother being forced to do sex work for the price of a cup of tea”, recalls Girish. “I started by merely feeding and teaching children of sex workers initially with the intention of giving them some respite from the horrors of life of abuse in red-light areas. Gradually more and more mothers started coming to me and asked me to take their children away, even if it was just for a couple of hours,” he further adds.The work that Girish started in his youth gradually grew to become a movement, with many more joining his cause. But every little bit counts and your support has made it possible for us to save lives during these challenging times. 30 Ambulances with Oxygen supply are plying through the streets of Bengaluru to support patients who need to be ferried to hospitals. On any given day, these ambulances are supporting 100 patients in the city. 5 Oxygen-on-Wheels have been deployed on the streets of Bengaluru, dedicated to providing immediate Oxygen supply to patients who aren’t able to get to hospitals in time. 2000+ COVID positive patients from low-income households in Bengaluru have received COVID Cure-kits - equipped with all the essentials required to treat their mild/moderate symptoms at home. More than 20,000 families have benefitted from the ration distribution drive in Bengaluru’s low-income households. 40 beds have been set up in our very first Step Down Centre, inaugurated in May 2021. For patients in need of continuous oxygen monitoring, these Step Down Centres ensure patient care until their SPO2 levels normalize. Over 1500 people have been vaccinated through our centers in Bengaluru. Our Vaccination camps are equipped with a Van, a doctor, a nurse, and vaccination kits.&nbsp; Your unconditional support has ensured that lives are saved amidst a raging pandemic, in a short span of time. For Ms. Sumathi, teaching in a remote government school with limited resources, challenges are aplenty. Nearing her retirement, Ms. Sumathi is revered for her teaching methodologies despite the many hurdles she faces in her personal life. She has dedicated her life to the cause of education at a time when teaching is highly underappreciated in India.There are over 200 teachers working in our partner schools (affordable private and government). These teachers battle many personal and professional issues while persevering to keep their classrooms alive and engaged. Their service allows students from underprivileged backgrounds to dream big. For many such Ms. Sumathis, motivation and appreciation play important roles in encouraging them to continue their inspirational work towards achieving a quality education for every child.The lack of this appreciation has resulted in them questioning the need for the profession itself. Celebrating teachers, and teaching thus is imperative. 
 Mantra4Change hosts TCheers! - an annual two-day event where teachers from all our partner schools join us. This, being the second year of TCheers!, we are excited to have more than 200 teachers coming together to meet, connect, share best practices and celebrate the joys of teaching. To be in the presence of inspiring stories of these teachers who believe in the power of quality education, and work towards achieving it is the whole point of this event. 
 This project aims to instill the love and celebration of teaching as a profession in every teacher. Through this project, we aim to create a community of teachers who can share their knowledge and best practices with each other now and in the long run. These teachers are amazing at what they do and we, at Mantra believe that it is important to appreciate and motivate them further in this journey towards achieving quality education for every child.

India has 1.5 million schools and more than 200 million school going children. Even though the nation has succeeded in bringing children back to schools, the larger question of equipping them with quality education lingers still. Most of the under-resourced schools, including low-fee private schools and government-run schools, struggle to provide quality education to students because of lack of resources and support. 
 In 2013, when we established Mantra Social Services (Mantra4Change), we envisioned a better world - one with equal opportunities for all - the key components being quality and equity in education. We work to impact millions of students by working with low-income private and government-run schools. Through our projects, we take a holistic approach towards improving every school. Adapting our projects to different contexts, we are spreading the message of quality education across India.Mantra4Change aims to reach out to 500 under-resourced schools and 150,000 students by 2020, in its crusade to enable schools to deliver quality education. We believe that the background of a child doesn't determine the kind of education they receive. Our projects span across over 200 schools, serving nearly 25000 students in 6 states of India. As we embark on a journey to scale with quality across geographies, support us to make quality and equity in education a reality. 
 After a two-year engagement, students in these schools graduate with the help of our intervention. During this period, an impact assessment indicates the progress each school has made. The increment in community engagement, teaching practices, and students' attainment proved that quality education is highly achievable through meaningful interventions. All of this works out because of a motivated school leader who we strive to empower. Such leaders drive and sustain transformation to promote quality education.
