This has become a practice in today's society that money comes first and everything else later,” says Winnie whose Maitri India, rescues widowed mothers from the streets of Vrindavan.Many widowed elderly mothers often end up living a lonely life and begging to survive on the streets. And Maitri aspires to take care of every widow in need of help, but because of lack of funds, Winnie and Maitri are in a position to do it."Elderly widows don't have shelter. They sleep in cowsheds over sacks. They don't have a blanket. In the dark and dingy alleys of red light areas, injustice, pain and suffering run rampant. And the worst affected are the children who grow up in red-light areas and are subjected to constant abuse and violence. “The sight of a 12-year-old girl being gang-raped by a group of men near a house l haunts me to this date. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. He has further supported over 20,000 children with a better life.Sadly, Of the 250 the children rescued from abuse and exploitation, around 70 of them are HIV positive. I had even seen my friend’s 15-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother being forced to do sex work for the price of a cup of tea”, recalls Girish. “I started by merely feeding and teaching children of sex workers initially with the intention of giving them some respite from the horrors of life of abuse in red-light areas. Gradually more and more mothers started coming to me and asked me to take their children away, even if it was just for a couple of hours,” he further adds.The work that Girish started in his youth gradually grew to become a movement, with many more joining his cause. His NGO Snehalaya to date has transformed the lives of millions. Girish’s work is crucial for the survival and safety of vulnerable children of sex workers. To empower every child with education, Marpu Foundation started School Kit in 2020 to provide educational aids to children from economically weaker sections of society. School Kit is an assorted set of materials such as a school bag, notebooks, pen, pencil, drawing book, colours and compass box, which varies as per the sections like primary, secondary and higher secondary.40% of India’s population is below 18 years (children), Less than half of the children go to school. And only 1/3 reach Grade 8. Children dropping out of school are a common sight. Children drop out of school owing to limited financial means, lack of access to school materials &amp; parents’ indifference towards education. To combat this challenge, Marpu Foundation initiated the School Kit Sponsorship, a program to ensure that primary school supplies reach even the remotest parts of a few states across India. With contributions from donors, we enable children to attend school.

 Last year around 40000+ children benefitted from this program. School authorities have noted an increase in student enrolment, and we hope to maintain that momentum. This year we are planning to reach 60,000+ Kits.﻿The School Kit consists of a school bag, notebooks and stationery materials like a geometry box, pen, pencil, eraser sharpener, and ruler. We are trying to raise funds for 60,000 school kits to be distributed among underprivileged children this year.

Eradicating hunger and malnutrition is one of the great challenges of our time. Not only do the consequences of not enough – or the wrong – food cause suffering and poor health, they also slow progress in many other areas of development like education and employment. Every day, Marpu Foundation and its partners work to bring us closer to a zero hunger world. With our humanitarian food assistance, we provide nutritious food to those in urgent need. Meanwhile, our complimentary programs address the root causes of hunger, building the resilience of communities, so we don’t need to keep saving the same lives each year.  COVID-19 brought new awareness to hunger as families suffered record levels of economic hardship. But as life returns to normal for many of us, too many individuals still face the painful consequences of food insecurity while vulnerable families continue to struggle. The program "Feed The Needy" has a unique solution. We’ve developed long-term partnerships and collaborations to help deliver specially formulated meals to needy individuals.Our feeding program includes the below beneficiaries -<ul><li>Disaster relief</li><li>Children (Runaway, Schools, and Malnourished)</li><li>Lactating mothers</li><li>Homeless</li><li>Subsidized meals for economically poorer individuals</li><li>Old-age homes</li></ul> 
 With the generous provision of nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for the needy individuals with balanced nutrition for Children and other organizations, thousands of individuals receive a hot meal prepared daily by our network of volunteers. We've been actively working to fulfill the needs through our various data sources which have been verified by our volunteers. Emergency needs are our first priority and during these hard times, we are working round the clock serving people.

Feed the Underprivileged

The concern for this project is the underrepresentation and lack of opportunities for women in education and the workforce. Despite progress in recent years, women still face barriers to achieving equal representation in higher education and leadership positions. This can be due to various factors, such as societal biases, lack of access to resources, and financial constraints. This project aims to address these issues by providing scholarships for women to pursue their education and career goals and empowering them to break through these barriers and succeed in their chosen fields. The "EmpowerHer" scholarship program aims to level the playing field for women and give them the support they need to reach their full potential. 
 To address the underrepresentation and lack of opportunities for women in education and the workforce, the Marpu Foundation will launch the "EmpowerHer" scholarship program. This program will provide financial assistance to women who are pursuing higher education or seeking to advance their careers. The scholarship will be open to women of all ages and backgrounds, particularly those from underprivileged communities.The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition, books, and other necessary expenses. In addition, the program will provide mentoring and networking opportunities to scholars to help them succeed in their chosen fields. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet certain criteria, such as having a strong academic record and demonstrating financial need.The scholarship program will be advertised through various channels, including social media, newspapers, and community organizations. The foundation will also work with schools, colleges, and universities to reach out to potential applicants. EmpowerHer: A Scholarship Program for Women's Education and Career Advancement.

Dyslexia is a neurological condition affecting reading and language-based learning, estimated to affect around 10-15% of the population. Despite this, many individuals with dyslexia still face barriers to success in school and their careers due to a lack of understanding and accommodations for their condition. These barriers can include difficulty in reading, writing, and spelling and a lack of appropriate educational resources and support.In addition to the educational challenges, individuals with dyslexia can also face social and emotional challenges. They may experience feelings of frustration, low self-esteem and anxiety. The lack of awareness and understanding of dyslexia in society and the lack of support and resources available often exacerbate these challenges.This project aims to address these issues by providing support, resources and accommodations for individuals with dyslexia. The "Read to Succeed" program aims to empower individuals with dyslexia to overcome their barriers and succeed in their education and careers. 
 To address the lack of support and resources for individuals with dyslexia, the Marpu Foundation will launch the "Read to Succeed" program. This program will provide support, resources and accommodations for individuals with dyslexia to help them succeed in their education and careers.
