We rescued her a few years later, but by then, she had already endured unimaginable trauma. Her stories broke my heart. This is a fast-growing business because unlike anything else, a human being can be sold over and over again. It is alarming and heart-wrenching,” Aaboo shares.But no matter how daunting the task might be Aaboo has made it his life mission to see the fight against human trafficking till the end. Living in a hell on earth“The abuse young girls face in red-light areas is beyond comprehension,” Aaboo shares. “These young girls are robbed of their innocence and their childhood. Traffickers beat them with rods, burn them, and mutilate their private parts just to break them. Children are kept in separate apartments where multiple men abuse them and get addicted to substances”, Aaboo says. Through his NGO Purnata, Aaboo is on a mission not just to rescue the victims from red-light areas but also to rehabilitate them and give them a fresh start in life. To date, he has saved 85 children and 60 women from red-light areas, but for him, the job is far from over. Livelihood

VIKSAT, a pioneer in promoting sustainable natural resource management, has been at the forefront of environmental and climate change initiatives since its inception. With a strong focus on forestry, VIKSAT initiated the wasteland development and forest regeneration program in a village back in 1984. Recognizing the urgent need to address climate change challenges, VIKSAT has been actively engaged in various activities, including afforestation and tree plantation, to ensure sustainable natural resource management. Their holistic approach, considering technological, biophysical, socio-economic, political, and environmental factors, strengthens ecological foundations and promotes sustainable production systems. Under Micro Level Tool for Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change, VIKSAT is currently implementing watershed projects in the Sabarkantha and Banaskantha districts of Northern Gujarat, India. These projects encompass climate-proofing interventions, sustainable development programs, and initiatives to enhance resilience in the face of climate variability. By integrating watershed development activities and building climate resilience, VIKSAT actively participates in the restoration of degraded soils and empowers communities to adapt effectively to the challenges of a changing climate. Through their dedicated efforts, VIKSAT creates substantial positive changes in the domains of environmental conservation and climate change mitigation.
