And the worst affected are the children who grow up in red-light areas and are subjected to constant abuse and violence. “The sight of a 12-year-old girl being gang-raped by a group of men near a house l haunts me to this date. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. To improve adolescent girls and women leadership qualities, hygiene practices, health status and political involvement PORD started to work with the adolescent girls.In the PORD operational area, most of the families are belongs to the marginalized communities in 86 villages, they are believed on the superstitious, traditions. Gender discrimination is high in these communities in terms of birth, food, decision making, education, health facilities and marriages they will show inequality compare with the boys. And also these community members not participating in elections, daily wages work they are not receiving equal pay. In these families registered stillbirths and neonatal deaths of the girl child. By performing child marriages children are losing their health due to improper nutrition. Through Caste/religion customs, traditions girls and women losing their empowerment. In an early age, they are working as a bonded labours and trafficking to other cities. Community customs and traditions are pressurizing families to follow them.During the school days, adolescent girls are not utilizing the toilets and urinals due to the reason of not having proper facilities and cleanliness. To avoid the usage of urinals girl children are drinking less water during school hours, with this reason they are facing so many problems from the age of 12 and at the time of menstruation they are not attending the schools for not having minimum facilities like water, soap, proper infrastructure facilities.After puberty parents are encouraging children for marriage to reduce the burden of their responsibility. 
 Formation of sanghas in the village level with the combination of male and women members. By forming the sanghas provide regular awareness on the importance of health, nutrition and education. Through some case stories, women leaders stories, encourage women to participate in decision making, continue their children education and emancipate gender in equality.<ul><li>Identify vulnerable families in the community and maintain accurate data, through this data mobilize social security schemes to the eligible persons, tracked children who are in risk of child labour/child marriage and provided regular counselling’s to the parents to mainstream and continue their children.</li><li>Formation and strengthen Adolescent girls groups in community level</li><li>Construct female-friendly toilets in schools and colleges</li><li>Involve Adolescent girls core group members in regular awareness programmes</li><li>Conduct regular capacity building to the youth and college students</li><li>Construct safe disposal of sanitary napkins in schools and colleges</li><li>Distribution of free sanitary napkins to the needy people</li><li>Utilize Adolescent girls core group members as a resource person in Schools &amp; Colleges</li></ul>
