"My son used to kick me when he was in my womb. Why make an issue when he kicked me in my old age?" reasons a very forgiving Shakti Dasi. The widow travelled 2300 kms from Tripura to Vrindavan after her only son violently beat her with a burning plank of wood and broke her knee one evening. She had to leave behind the business she had built with her husband who had died a few years back. Shakti ended up on the streets of Brindavan begging for food and shelter. But when Winnie Singh of Maitri saw Shakti in a frail state in tattered clothes, she brought her to the shelter home where Shakti gets food, care and medicines. What more, with Maitri’s intervention, Shakti reconciled with her son - and daughter-in-law, and now travels home to Tripura twice a year to spend time with her grandchildren. But she is not leaving Maitri, as this has become her family.Not every elderly widow who comes to Vrindavan after being abandoned by her family gets as lucky as Shakti. Many of them often end up living a lonely life and begging to survive on the streets. “What will happen to them after me? I am 80+. I spend sleepless nights,” worries ex-Air Force officer, Group Captain AC Barua while talking about the future of the 28 destitute women under his care. “They have nobody in this world, sometimes they don’t remember their own names. They are absolutely alone,” he informs us as he goes from one room to the other meeting all the women who live at Seneh, the only home where they are loved and taken care of. After fighting for his country all his life, this octogenarian is now fighting to rescue homeless and abandoned women from dying on the streets. But he cannot do it alone. “Everyday I keep on getting calls from here and there. ‘Oh! there’s a woman lying here. Can you help?’ But I don’t dare to go and help because I don’t have the money. I don’t have the resources, our resources are very limited,” explains Gr. Capt. Barua who is lovingly called ‘Sir’ and ‘Deuta’ (father in Assamese) by the residents of Seneh. With your help, 80-year-old Group Captain Barua can fulfill his mission of rescuing abandoned and homeless women from dying on the streets, alone. Group Captain Barua has not only rescued them from critical conditions, he has provided them with urgent medical care, food and above all, a free safe shelter where they can live with love and care. Among these residents is Sarala Kalita who fled to save herself from the tortures of her alcoholic husband only to face neglect and trauma from her brothers- and sisters-in-law. “Both my brothers and their wives urged my father to leave me somewhere as they didn’t want to take care of me anymore. One day my brother’s wife didn’t even let me have food at home. She just wanted me to leave and go away. So that’s why, my father got in touch with Seneh through someone, and handed me over to Sir to take care of me,” says Sarita who has found joy in living at Seneh. “Coming to Seneh, it felt like I got a new life altogether. Sir has given me a harmonium. I love singing. It makes me forget everything and takes me to someplace else entirely,” she adds. More women like Sarala can find their way to a loving home like Seneh. All they need is a little bit of your kindness. “It is difficult to make both ends meet”To sustain their daily expenditure, Capt Barua needs approx ₹3 lakh a month and arranging the funds is a mammoth challenge for the NGO. “Our expenses are growing day by day. Residents are growing older, their sicknesses are increasing. At times we have to give them special food. They require more care so we have to get more employees. About half of them require leading around, 1-2 has to be fed also. It will be very difficult to sustain it unless we get help,” he added. One act of your kindness can save these abandoned women, with no one in this world, from struggling on the streets to survive. Cattle, bred for profit and abandoned after they stop producing milk, are often found malnourished, injured or sick on city streets. Many face bitter winters, starvation and death in road accidents - a sad fate for cows in a country where they are revered by lakhs of people. To save cows from such a sad end, Swami Ishwar Das started Shree Krishnayan Desi Gaushala, currently home to 18,000+ abandoned cows. But with the rising costs of fodder and medicines, he is struggling to provide the quality of care such mistreated animals deserve. “It was in 2010 when I witnessed abandoned cows from the streets in Uttarakhand being transported in a truck. The cows were administered anesthesia and stacked one above the other like lifeless goods. When me and a few of my acquaintances brought the cows off the truck, two of them died before my eyes and that sight shook me to the core. Rajanet Yegneswaran Charitable Trust was Started in 2005 with the help of volunteers and to this day, is run with volunteers. Started by planting indigenous trees inside the city in layouts, schools, colleges, Government offices, railways &amp; Military land etc. 5 years ago started Agro-forestry, and are planting fruit trees to poor farmers to enhance their income. Agroforestry is a more productive, profitable, sustainable and ecologically sound land-use. Planted trees in calamity hit areas. 1000 trees on the banks of River Kaveri, Kudige, Kodagu, Karnataka. Planted 2000 fruit &amp; coconut trees for the Gaja Cyclone hit farmers of Pattukotai, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. So far planted 81,500 trees. Our objective is to plant where the sapling is watered and taken care of. We look for survival and not numbers. With the outbreak of Pandemic COVID-19, we have sprung into action and have joined hands with NITI Aayog  We identify the needy inside the city and remote villages of Karnataka and Thanjavur, and connect Help Seekers to Help Givers. Volunteers have taken active part even during lock down and distributed 1500 dry ration kits impacting 5000 people inside the city to people who have lost their jobs, people living inside the cemetery, transgenders, etc. and for villagers in interior parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. We have distributed 3000 masks and have conducted 5 awareness camps on COVID-19NGO Type.

Deforestation has deadly consequences that include global warming, climate change. erratic rainfalls, floods, droughts, soil erosion, landslides, air pollution, depletion of groundwater levels, lack of a sustainable livelihood for farmers leading to debts and suicides, vanishing biodiversity, and many moreReforestIndia is seeking funds to plant “food forests” for small, marginal farmers. 
 ReforestIndia has been planting fruits trees and other native trees used for fodder and firewood for farmers in a 100 km radius surrounding Bangalore. Every rupee contributed will assuredly benefit the farmers and the environment because:A) ReforestIndia is a purely volunteer-run organisation, meaning that we have no fixed overheads like salaries to pay. Every rupee donated goes directly to the farmers.B)The yardstick to measure the success of any tree planting program is the survival rate of trees. ReforestIndia programs have the highest survival rate because we conduct many checks before deciding whom to support. Only genuine deserving cases are considered. Then we plant the trees ourselves with the help of volunteers and sometimes with willing/enthusiastic sponsors. Above all, the donor can be assured that the trees will be protected and nurtured because the farmers' livelihood/survival depends on the survival of the tree. 
 These “food forests” help combat ecological and economical issues in one shot. The “food forests” help reduce the effects of global warming by absorbing greenhouse gases. They increase the precipitation and thereby increase rainfall. The trees also recharge groundwater and improve the water table. They also provide a suitable habitat for the local fauna and increase biodiversity. The most tangible benefit of all is that the farmers get a reliable source of livelihood, thereby freeing them from the recurring cycles of debt and suicides. The farmers get economical security. The future generations get ecological security with fresh air, water and a healthy soil. ReforestIndia, a charity that has been planting 'trees for free' for farmers, individuals, old age homes, orphanages, schools and other bodies since 2005, needs a vehicle to transport the tree saplings from the nurseries to the planting sites. On an average, we need to transport about 100-300 saplings, of heights 3-6 feet, and weighing about 5-15kgs, over distances of 10-500 kms, every single day. Our existing vehicle was purchased using donations from volunteers and a corporate who paid the balance amount. The vehicle is over 10 years old now and it costs more to service it than operate it. The vehicle has run its course and needs to be replaced. Please help us get back on the road so we can continue planting.For years to come!For the benefit of generations to come!

 India's INDC recognises the importance of aggressively restoring forest cover in a manner consistent with supporting livelihoods, creating additional carbon sink through additional forest and tree cover. We have been planting fruit trees for marginal farmers under Agro-forestry for the past 10 years and have been working in interior villages of Karnataka We have noticed lot of land belonging to the marginal farmers are left barren due to lack of infrastructure, and also they are unable to get whatever help the Government gives due to middlemen. To overcome this and to help marginal farmers, ,Reforestindia registered with the Rural Development &amp; Panchayat Raj and we have been empanelled under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA as a Training and Support Organisation to promote Agro Forestry works in various districts of Karnataka.   
 Since we have been working with farmers for a long time, we have earned their confidence and they are coming forward to tie up with our NGO for developing Food Forest. With the cooperation of the farmer, we are confident we will be able to convert the barren/unused/degraded land into fertile land filled with 'Food Forest'. Our first project started in Kadenahalli, Mulbagal, Kolar, Karnataka on a 5 acre barre land belonging to a farmer.  The second Projet will be in Rajenahalli, Mulbagal, Kolar Dist. Outcome of Project:- Under Paris Climate Agreement 2015, every country has agreed for Clean Development Mechanism by the UN.- Mitigation of climate change - micro temperature.- Local job creation for youth in rural areas - Community welfare- Creating awareness and knowledge- Carbon Credits.
