For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Bhagat, founder of the ashram. These abandoned elderly men and women lay starving on the streets hoping for someone to rescue them from their suffering. But most people walk past them without a second glance. “Like this”, Dr. Bhagat explains, “many elders die on the roads.”Since 2003, SHEOWS (Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society) has rescued over 10,000 elderly people from the streets and given them a home with care and support. In Pudukkottai District, there is a place called Arasadipatti, where the most underprivileged and illiterate people are living. There is a most deprived family of Karuppaiah and Devi are living with 9 children. The mother Devi was died during child birth of their last child. Because of his wife’s death Karuppaiah became drink addict and forgot is responsibility. After some time, he had left these children alone and gone somewhere.Now the children are hopeless and supportless. The first two children were left the home and get married by themselves. Now the third child is also left the home. But the rest of the children are struggling hard for their day to day survival. Their grandmother Logambal, 80 years old lady only taking care of these children with the support of their aunt Selvarani, she is the destitute with two children. All these children are living in the place, which is covered by Thaarpai (plastic cover), they don’t even have hut. There are some broken walls in that they have covered with some plastic cover &amp; living there without any safety. Their situation becomes worst &amp; even more pathetic during the rainy season/ other pandemic times. 
 These children are suffering without proper care and protection. They don’t even have their basic rights of living in a safety place. Their aunt is the only earning member and she is generating income by doing coolie works or selling flowers, which is not at all sufficient for their food and day to day survival. In this situation, they couldn’t build a home. So, we have decided to build them a small house to live safely.Six children, the 80 years old grandmother and their aunt along with her two children, over all 8 children and two adults are in this family now. They are really facing more difficulty for their sustainability. If they have a proper place to live atleast will give them the big support for their life. Shelter is the foremost need of every human being. Our one time contribution will support them for their lifelong. 
 <ul><li>By constructing a small house for these helpless poor children, we can ensure the safety of those children and their entire family.</li><li>We are supporting the family which is struggling hard to have their basic needs for their survival.</li><li>This shelter will give them a relief at the time of pandemic/ rainy/ storm.</li><li>The 80 years old grandmother can spend her rest of life in peace.</li><li>Especially the safety of girl children can be rest assured.</li></ul>

To construct a small house to ensure the safety of 8 poor children and  80 years old lady &  destitute woman

We (RDO- Rural Development Organization) have given Skill Development Training in Tailoring to destitute and deprived women who lost their family members due to Covid-19, with the support of “Tamilnadu Skill Development Corporation, Government of Tamilnadu”. We have trained 90 poor women.            Training alone will not give them big hope, because these women were lost the earning member of their family and struggling hard to meet up their family expenses and also their children’s education. There is no income source, children are getting dropout and facing difficulty for their day to day survival. So, we are looking forward to support them by issuing the Sewing Machines to generate income.   
 	We have selected the 50 foremost vulnerable women from 90 trained beneficiaries to issue sewing machine, who couldn’t afford to buy it. These women have completed their training and awaiting for the source to generate income for their sustainable livelihood.           If they get sewing machines, they can start up their own business in their home itself or they can start joint venture. We have also joined them in the Tamilnadu co-operative Society as a member, there they will be getting the opportunity to stitch the uniform dresses of Government school children. So, it could also be the good source of income for them.  For all, they are in need of sewing machine, so that they can generate income and can be self reliable. It is the one time investment for their lifelong sustainability.

ISSUE SEWING MACHINE TO COVID-19 VICTIMS

Lot of gypsy community and nomadic people are living in Pudukkottai District. Our organization have done the survey and identified the slum area KamarajarNagar, where more than 150 families are living without literacy and not even have the awareness about education and also there is no Government balwadi. So, we have decided to make them aware about the importance of education, we try to begin with early childhood education. There are more than 40 children between the age group 2-5 years are available. If we try to bring the changes from childhood, it gives good impact in their community. These people don’t have standard job or income. They are maximum jobless and living by begging or selling some oosimani/paasimani- fancy items in bus stand or roadways. Spending their life just like that and nurturing their children also in such a way without educating.	 	So, we planned to run a Creche centre (balwadi ) in this village as a right start for their future endorsement. 
 We have thought that make the changes from beginning will give them drastic change in their lives. The early child hood education is not only give them the education but it is also an art of rearing the children by learning and seeding good habits, morales and positive attitudes, good character and well equipped behavior.The programme is on play way method of education. They can learn rhymns, stories, Numbers, Alphabets and etc.,. Also they will be educated to identify the different colours, names of birds &amp; animals through pictures and their voices. Through by this the children’s mind has been motivated for learning and to get education and also it will create school going habits.We will educate the children along with Milk Provision and Lunch. We also do periodical health checkup once in three month. One Teacher and one care taker will be appointed to run this center effectively. After completion of 5 years, we will mainstream these children in Government school for the continuation of their education. 
 <ul><li>     This project will make positive changes in the lifestyle of the targeted minority community children.</li><li>   Targeted people aware the importance of Education.</li><li>    Child labour can be eradicated.</li><li>  Future generation of the nomadic groups and Gypsy community will be educated.</li><li>    These minority communities can improve their standard of living.</li><li>     Atleast these children can get their rights of education.</li><li>     These children can get milk and nutritious food daily without doubt.</li><li> Children could be healthy by eating regularly.</li><li> Periodical health check up will help the children to monitor their health status</li><li>      Adults can be able to go for work without child burden.</li><li>      This project really impact and make big changes in the lives of poor illiterate people.</li></ul>
