Help Disabled Children with Shelter & Care

For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Bhagat, founder of the ashram. These abandoned elderly men and women lay starving on the streets hoping for someone to rescue them from their suffering. But most people walk past them without a second glance. “Like this”, Dr. Bhagat explains, “many elders die on the roads.”Since 2003, SHEOWS (Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society) has rescued over 10,000 elderly people from the streets and given them a home with care and support. The Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram has a dedicated rescue team that saves the elderly from the streets and gives them immediate medical care upon their arrival at the home. To tend to the multiple health complications of the seniors, the home has a medical facility with doctors and nurses, a physiotherapy unit, a pathology lab, a digital X-ray monitoring machine and a pharmacy to provide 24-hour care to older adults anytime they require assistance, even during emergencies. Dr. Bhagat prioritizes the health of the seniors and ensures that they receive three balanced meals a day based on their precise health requirements. Need for the fundraiserThe humanitarian mission of SHEOWS is making an impact in the area, as more and more people are being rescued and brought to Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. To meet the financial costs of running the home, SHEOWS needs support to continue providing the residents with all the facilities that they need. In the dark and dingy alleys of red light areas, injustice, pain and suffering run rampant. And the worst affected are the children who grow up in red-light areas and are subjected to constant abuse and violence. “The sight of a 12-year-old girl being gang-raped by a group of men near a house l haunts me to this date. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. He has further supported over 20,000 children with a better life.Sadly, Of the 250 the children rescued from abuse and exploitation, around 70 of them are HIV positive. I had even seen my friend’s 15-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother being forced to do sex work for the price of a cup of tea”, recalls Girish. “I started by merely feeding and teaching children of sex workers initially with the intention of giving them some respite from the horrors of life of abuse in red-light areas. Gradually more and more mothers started coming to me and asked me to take their children away, even if it was just for a couple of hours,” he further adds.The work that Girish started in his youth gradually grew to become a movement, with many more joining his cause. His NGO Snehalaya to date has transformed the lives of millions. Girish’s work is crucial for the survival and safety of vulnerable children of sex workers. I wish to invite your kind notice that Santhivardhana Ministries is a not-for-profit organization and it is registered under societies registration act 35 of 2001 vide registration No. 129/2005. This organization has been maintaining a Special School for Physically and Mentally Retarded Children in both Day and Residential Care prospects from the year 2006. it has received a District Level award for Best Non-Governmental Organisation in 2011, 2016 &amp; this 15th August 2022 and State Level in 2018 from the representatives of the respective district and state. Further, it is submitted that there are 160 Mentally Retarded Children are rehabilitated in the School out of which 129 children are accommodated in Hostel in Pulimeru village, Peddapuram Mandal and 31 children at Bendapudi village, Thondangi Mandal of East Godavari District. Since the ultimate aim of rehabilitation of persons with disabilities is to prepare them for a meaningful contributory and participatory adult role in society. The rehabilitation components may include from womb to tomb at all levels. This project has established a special centre where mentally challenged persons received quality rehabilitation services such as special education. About 20 differently-abled persons were developed in various fields of skill development programmes, now they are leading their lives on their shoulders and 6 persons got Government jobs. Santhivardhana is also running an Adult Literacy program in Rajavommangi tribal villages of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with Literacy India Trust, Chennai since 2020. We found how illiteracy plays a vital role in their lives. We work on this project with the most deprived innocent people belonging to VALMIKI and KONDAKAPU communities. 15 trainee teachers were educating a total of 450 adult students, every 30 students per adult literacy class. Santhivardhana is extended its services to motivating women to take responsibility in the family by supporting his men in the leisure time that they will get in their day through Income Generation Program. Since 2015, after almost 7 years by taking support from other NGOs, 3675 people were benefited by encouraging 54 different micro-enterprises to the dwellers of 12 Mandals of East Godavari District. Promotion &amp; protection of human rights and dignity to live in equality, justice and freedom for the most vulnerable (orphan, disabled, old age people, children &amp; women) in the community through the implementation of social &amp; economic enhancement without the discrimination of caste, religion, creed and colour. We look forward to all of us joining hands and working towards a more equitable and fairer social order.

However, Santhivardhana School For Special Children is a safe place for them where everyone around them is there to offer love, support and respect. </blockquote>Generally, we are feeding special needs children with a regular diet without fail at our Santhivardhana special residential school for differently abled.. We all came to know the importance of body resistance when the whole world faced Covid. So we changed our motto to feed the children with nutritious food products. We are not that capable to give all the nutrition at a time with the support we have. Milk and good quality food are having the most protein elements in them. So we decided to feed our children with good cow milk not packed milk. In general, we are getting packed milk. But we want to buy the milk from a direct farmer. For this, we have to raise a bit more amount. If we get any donations towards this project we will be able to provide good quality food to our special needs children.Cow milk is the best protein food in liquids other than mother milk. If the children are taking this milk regularly their immunity power will increase rapidly. Hence they remain healthy. Because they are not able to express the illness like general people, we must take more care and attention towards these children. Thanking you one and all.
