If they are ill or injured, they are never given treatment. They are tied up in small spaces. Where there is space barely for 10, they keep 20, 30 or even 40 animals. And these animals spend their entire life in these painful conditions", says Dr Asher Jesudoss, animal welfare activist, who fights against the abuse of farmed animals.According to him, several crude, illegal and violent methods/practices are used to extract milk from cattle, which leave thousands with illnesses. “Labour pains are induced in cattle by injecting drugs; they are made to forcefully let down milk twice a day unnaturally. Their calves are pulled away and are not allowed to drink their mother’s milk. Cattle, bred for profit and abandoned after they stop producing milk, are often found malnourished, injured or sick on city streets. Many face bitter winters, starvation and death in road accidents - a sad fate for cows in a country where they are revered by lakhs of people. To save cows from such a sad end, Swami Ishwar Das started Shree Krishnayan Desi Gaushala, currently home to 18,000+ abandoned cows. But with the rising costs of fodder and medicines, he is struggling to provide the quality of care such mistreated animals deserve. “It was in 2010 when I witnessed abandoned cows from the streets in Uttarakhand being transported in a truck. The cows were administered anesthesia and stacked one above the other like lifeless goods. When me and a few of my acquaintances brought the cows off the truck, two of them died before my eyes and that sight shook me to the core. Many injured street animals are euthanized every year in Bangalore city due to a lack of space or resources. We at Sarvoham would like to provide a second chance at happiness to injured/ paralyzed or disabled street dogs who can't survive by themselves, such as dogs who have met with accidents and dogs whose leg(s) are amputated, enucleated, blind, old dogs etc. These kinds of dogs who have a chance of survival are forced to euthanize, however, the animal fights for its life until its last breath, these kinds of dogs who are independent just need a little space, food, shelter and medical care. Every day Sarvoham receives 20-30 rescue calls, but due to limited medical care, we are only able to help and rescue 2-3 dogs in a day. To take in more such dogs who need medical attention, we need to purchase more medicines and increase our manpower to provide medical care and currently, we are not in a state to admit more dogs. 
 Sarvoham would like to extend its medical care unit by providing medical care and basic infrastructure for these dogs to live happy life and to be treated. Most of the dogs who come into our shelter are accident cases, maggot wounds, and treatable and irreparable injuries. The dogs who get better with our medical care, are put back in their territory from where the dog was initially picked up by our ambulance. 
 With the help of Grants from Amazon, we would be able to create a direct impact on more than 300 injured street dogs and provide a second chance at happiness. Few of the dogs who come into our shelter with irreparable injuries or paralyzed dogs will be permanent residents of our shelter for the rest of their lives.
