If the children don’t relent even then, the abusers put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. When children stay in these conditions, it is painful even to hear,” says Lalitha SA of the Society for Participatory Integrated Development (SPID), while talking about many heart-rending stories of trafficked children in red-light areas. In over three decades, the team of SPID led by Lalitha, has saved over 3000 children from the red-light areas in Delhi, such as GB Road, and many from clutches of sex trafficking. Established in 1950, Seva Samajam Children’s Home is one of the first units of the Guild of Service (Central). It houses around 85+ orphaned and destitute boys and girls. The rights of children are ensured by providing nutritious food, water, clothing, health care, and a safe, hygienic environment. The in-house school, Lady Nye MRT1 Special Higher Secondary School provides free, value-based education for about 220 students from 1st to 12th standard.   The Children’s home is registered under the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015 (Care and Protection). The home is committed to creating a family environment: a place where children are supported by caring adults, prioritizing and focusing on their holistic development, and where every child feels loved.
