“I saw a girl, barely 7 or 8, being pushed into flesh trade. Her cries for help still echo in my ears. There were men as old as 60 r*ping the innocent child. Shifting Orbits Foundation is a non-profit organization that operate chains of After School Learning Centers in under-served communities with the mission of increasing the number of educated members in each of the communities we touch.Our short term theory of change is that by being with the family for a longer duration we can help them sustain and complete their child’s education. Our long term theory of change is that if we increase the number of educated members of each community we work with, soon enough they will start leading this movement of education for their own communities eventually ending the cycles of poverty.Executed through our 3 hour a day/6 days a week/300 days a year After-School-Intervention, we are on a mission to ensure that every child who joins us gets a fair chance to complete their entire educational journey!Each year 15-20 students join each of our center in Grade 8 and then we work with them to ensure that they ahve all the support they need till they complete their college.We work location by location and deliver our program through our Learning Center Coordinators who are either graduate/semi-graduate or our own alumni belonging to same community and then train/empower them with robust support system to take the mission forward - with or without us!We currently impact 350+ families spread over 7 locations across Urban Bangalore with Rural parts of Kerala.
