I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. The spike in COVID-19 cases after Unlock has highlighted the challenge of containing the outbreak more vigorously in the next two to three months. Prompt identification of early signs and symptoms can play a crucial role in isolating those infected and breaking the chain.This is even more important in rural areas, where is very little or no awareness about hygiene and preventive measures. Social distancing is not too much of an option in these small hutments, where there is barely enough roof over their heads for everyone. If even one person gets infected, the virus would spread exponentially in these villages.There is a lack of adequate Covid-19 testing facilities in the interior villages. Even basic screening facilities like a temperature check or oxygen level (SpO2) check are not available at majority places.With thousands of underprivileged people now moving around in search of jobs, prevention and early identification is the only way to control the spread. 
 With the support of our brave front-line responders - medical practitioners, nurses &amp; volunteers, we are now distributing Early Detection Kits for prevention that include :<ul><li>A Pulse Oximeter - to regularly monitor SpO2 (oxygen) levels and pulse rate</li><li>A Digital Thermometer - to regularly check body temperature</li><li>A Steam Inhaler - to keep seasonal colds &amp; flu at bay</li><li>Tarpaulin Sheet - 12’ x 15’ to create an isolated space in their houses if required</li><li>5 Masks - to protect those going out of the house</li></ul>Along with teaching how to use the equipment and the normal parameters range, our volunteers are also spreading awareness w.r.t identifying the early signs and symptoms when to visit a Primary Healthcare Centre. Importance of social distancing, correct methods to cough/sneeze, wash hands, etc. are being emphasized again. 
 We have already reached out to 1 lakh+ under-privileged villagers since 25th March in our ongoing drive #CoronaSeKaruna of distributing Hygiene Kits and Grocery Kits across 255+ backward &amp; tribal villages of Raigad district, just 90 kms from Mumbai.We have distributed 12,142 kits Hygiene Kits and 6,726 kits Grocery kits as on date, equivalent to 48,42,720 meals.The State Disaster Management Authority has felicitated us with an award at the hands of District Collector Ms. Nidhi Chaudhari &amp; Maharashtra Cabinet Minister of State Ms. Aditi Tatkare for our exemplary efforts to support 1lakh+ villagers during Covid-19.We will continue to strive towards uplifting the lives of under-privileged in the interiors of Maharashtra. Regular updates about our work are shared on our Insta &amp; FB pages (@mission2020.me)A donation of INR 3000 can provide an Early Detection Kit to one family. COVID-19 Preventive Care and Grocery Distribution Drive

While remote learning became the only option to keep the education system running during the pandemic and multiple lockdowns, the problems of power outage and unstable network posed significant challenges in rural settings over and above the efforts required by teacher and students to transition to online models of learning. You contribution of ₹750 can go a long way in countering some of the common challenges of remote learning for over 1000 children. This will enable sending offline modules and learning materials to children as well as provision of e-learning devices to deserving students. The thought of skipping school and studying from home has always sounded exciting to students — until the outbreak of Covid-19. With the country going under extended lockdown, schools were advised to continue educating students through virtual lectures or portals using open online courses. Shifting education to a completely virtual mode was not a cake walk even for schools in urban areas; and in rural areas, the problems are manifold. The major challenge of remote learning in rural schools as compared to urban ones is disparity in access – from electricity and stable internet connection to availability of computers or smartphones.Though teaching with e-learning content is not a new phenomenon to our teachers at Shree Raj Educational Centre, conducting a virtual class was a completely alien concept to the isolated villages in Sudhagad Taluka.In the absence of education, there was a risk that Covid-19 would undo years of progress if these under-privileged children were made to pull out of school and take up agriculture or odd jobs.We had to explore how teachers could stay engaged with over 1000 children, who were now in their homes, spread across 95 remote villages, in a region that has just 15% internet coverage. 
 Despite these overwhelming challenges, our teachers - with their never-give-up spirit and passion for learning - have learnt the online teaching process and have reached out to every student studying in our school.Depending upon facilities available with the student’s family or neighbours, different modes of online learning are selected and explained to them.Students who have access to smartphones have been taught to use Zoom. Where network is a hindrance, the teachers create videos and send them through Whatsapp, so that students can download them elsewhere and study them later. This also works for children whose parents are away at work and access to a phone is available only at night.Students are given activities that they can do with things commonly found at their homes. Sending homework and taking open book exams are all through Whatsapp.We have also introduced Google Classroom to students from higher standards who have got accustomed to online learning. This tool is helping the teachers save time, stay organized, have more impact in the virtual classroom and seamlessly communicate with students.Yet, there are many students who do not have access to smartphones or internet. 
 To spark the interest of a child sitting at home, and for those who do not have access to smartphones or internet, we plan to send offline content like printed assignments, worksheets, activity sheets and reading material. This would help them stay connected to school and teach them to apply their academic knowledge in day-to-day life. This will also be immensely useful to pre-primary children to keep them engaged and enhance their cognitive and fine motor skills - something they cannot learn through online videos.Mobile phones will be provided to deserving children who have internet coverage but no mobile phone that they can use.We will be providing free textbooks and notebooks to all 1000+ children in addition to online and offline teaching.We are committed to the learning, growth and development of each student. Our teachers are continuously trying new, self-directed ways of learning to help expand students’ horizons.A donation of INR 750 can cover remote education expenses for one student per month. Revive Education during COVID-19

Parli, a small village just 90 km from the financial capital of India was amongst the most backward and undeveloped tribal areas of Maharashtra. Young children were made to work in neighbouring breweries and the situation of girl children was worse, where they had to take care of the entire house and their siblings to get trained and married off at a very young age. There was a lack of even basic infrastructure and facilities, let alone educational opportunities.The children are full of talent and aspire to get well-educated and lead better lives like urban children. Though their parents realize the importance of education, the annual family income is low and they are barely able to meet both ends. 
 Our rural school Shree Raj Educational Centre was started with a modest beginning of teaching a few children under a temporary shed under a Tree. It is the first English medium school in the entire Taluka. All educational expenses including uniforms, books, educational kits, meals as well as transport are being provided for, through the Centre.•	40% of students are girls - a remarkable achievement in spite of it being a rural area.•	Covers population over 40 km radius – children from 90 neighbouring villages attend School.•	First School in entire Taluka to introduce E-learning &amp; Computers for all classes from the 1st standard.•	First ‘Green school’ in Sudhagad Taluka by adapting to Solar Power generation for captive consumption•	Awarded the “Best Grade for School” from the Education Department, Zilla Parishad, in 2011 – 2012.•	Apart from studies, yoga, music, dance, sports and moral values are also part of the curriculum. We aim to provide the best rural education and sustainable skill development to tribal &amp; village children and thereby become instrumental in bringing about positive changes in their culture for generations to come. 
 Today 1200 children are being provided English medium education from Nursery to 10th standard.Shree Raj Educational Centre is a one-of-its-kind rural school and has facilities and infrastructure that only the topmost urban schools would have. The main idea is to provide the best education to these tribal &amp; village children and integrate them into mainstream society.
