For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Bhagat, founder of the ashram. These abandoned elderly men and women lay starving on the streets hoping for someone to rescue them from their suffering. Due to COVID-19, many people are finding it hard to get a regular income, whether an employee or a businessman every one is struggling, so just think about the poor people who were already in their worst condition and now it will be much worst due to global financial and economical meltdown caused by COVID-19. 
 <ul><li>The funds shall be used to purchase raw food, cook and distribute cooked food to covid 19 affected families living in slums &amp; district hospitals also in Balangir, Nayagarh &amp; Nuapada District in Odisha State. The approximate cost is 1000-1500 per day for food.</li><li>People living in resettlement colonies have been hit hard by the COVID 19 pandemic. They are badly affected due to lockdowns and illnesses that have led to the loss of livelihoods. The resettlement colony that we work in has about 15000 residents with most being unskilled daily wagers.</li><li>There are about 100 COVID 19 patients at the moment isolated at home with total family members isolated being about 150. With the help of local youths, we are striving to provide meals to these persons at home so that they stay safe and the infection does not spread. We have been doing this for the past two weeks, but now the drain on resources is becoming too much to be afforded by a small group. Two meals per day per person cost about INR 50/-. A donation of 5000/- will result in approximately 200 meals being served to the needy. in the past 3 years, we have served more than 500000 meals.</li><li>We request assistance from well-meaning individuals who would like to help their fellow humans in times of distress.  Who are we?Feeding From Far is an initiative by Shuru Mitra Charitable Foundation that has been feeding the poor and unemployed who are struggling to feed themselves during the lockdown. We managed to distributed over 1 lakh meals to the needy since the first lockdown hit through cooked meals and ration kits.<img src="https://cfstatic.give.do/a438a755-8e81-4407-8c8f-3af54efebc41.jpg" />Who do we help?Since the first lockdown, we have been taking care of over 1,000 families in Rayagada, Balangir, Nuapada District, Odisha. Since most residents of Rayagada, Balangir, Nuapada District, Odisha. are migrants, daily wage workers, rickshaw drivers, rag pickers etc.- they are all unemployed and unable to afford basic food at the moment.And as the new lockdown continues, so does the lockdown on their livelihoods.
