The extent of the struggles here was beyond my imagination. These villages had no connectivity to the outside world, and very limited access to healthcare and quality education”, says Bipin Dhane, founder of the school. Bipin, who grew up in the small town of Satara in Maharashtra, faced countless financial hardships. Despite his struggles, Bipin secured admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and then went on to take up a job in Singapore. Owing to his childhood experiences Bipin was always inclined towards helping the less fortunate, and he believed in the transformative power of education. It was in 2016 that Bipin left his lucrative career abroad and moved to Majuli, to provide the children from this inaccessible river island education they were deprived of.“Whatever little money I had saved, I gave it to my parents. I had no money to start the school. It was then that villagers came together to build bamboo huts. Each family donated bamboo, wood, and whatever little they could. Many children face neglect, with parents consumed by substance abuse, leaving them to fend for themselves. As Asha explains, "Bare basics like food, shelter, and clothing are not available. "She wanted to study but was being forced into child marriage," Asha shares. Magic Bus intervened, rallying the women in the village to stop the wedding. "We told them this girl is a child herself. The wedding was canceled, and the girl continued her education.According to Asha, children from villages have a burning desire to study and make a successful life for themselves but very rarely do these dreams come true. "There is a boy in our programme. Despite being alone, he studies, does all the housework, and looks after his younger siblings," Asha recounts. When his parents tried to take him and his siblings to work at a brick kiln, the boy resisted, saying, "I want to study and I want my young siblings to study as well."Why Education MattersEducation is the key to breaking the cycle of generational poverty. In India, 65% of the population lives in rural areas; around 33% are supposed to be poor. Notably, 30% of them are under 20 years of age. Of the 250 million youngsters in Rural India, only 10% take the 12th standard exam. In effect, a minuscule % of the population educates themselves. The reasons for this are, <ol><li>Money is in short supply &amp; education is not treated as an investment. </li><li>Access to colleges &amp; junior colleges dramatically reduces once they cross schooling. </li><li>Deprioritizing of Girl's education- 20% of rural girls still get married by 16. </li><li>Huge technological divide between the haves and the have nots. </li></ol>So if you are youngster born into a family of an Agricultural labourer the odds are stacked against you very yearly. Swadha has been employing a process driven zero discrimination model to select &amp; support deserving rural youngsters. Our support follows the Three E approach i.e.Educate – we first educate the students from 11th standard to end of Graduation/professional degree.Enhance – we then set out to enhance their abilities through an array of measures which spans at least 2000 hours across 4 to 6 years. These initiatives for enhancing abilities include, <ul><li>Providing access to one-on-one mentorship.</li><li>Providing access to internship opportunities during graduating years.</li><li>Providing access to English training &amp; certification courses</li><li>Providing access to computing resources/digital tools such as smartphones/ tabs/ laptops</li><li>along with mobile data connections.</li></ul>• Job readiness training. Employ – For all interested beneficiaries we offer opportunities to get employed in a white collared job. Our achievements speak for themselves. <ul><li>We have helped 300+ students pursue graduation based on a zero discrimination-based selection.</li><li>We are making rural girls break the glass ceiling by educating themselves beyond any women in their families. They form 60% of our beneficiaries and have come because of their achievement alongside the boys.</li><li>Helped over 200 first-time graduates from villages and tier-two towns break generational illiteracy.</li><li>Our model has 80% of the pass-outs find white collard jobs.</li><li>Our pass-out students contributed to a 5 - 10x increase in family income.</li><li>Reached our program to over 200 rural junior colleges where the poor go to educate beyond their 10th education.</li><li>Have proved that with appropriate skilling &amp; the right education poverty elevation is a reality. </li></ul>However, there is much more that needs to be done. National Statistical Survey 2017 states that only 5% of rural boys &amp; 2 % of rural girls graduate. In effect, a minuscule % of the population educates themselves. Imagine what this means from the human development standpoint when house 40% of the worlds youth population. The reasons for this are, <ol><li>Money is in short supply &amp; education is not treated as an investment. </li><li>Access to colleges &amp; junior colleges dramatically reduces once they cross schooling. </li><li>Deprioritising of Girls education- 20% of rural girls still get married by 16. </li><li>Finally &amp; very importantly, there is no employment in sight - They don’t have role models who inspire them to emulate.</li></ol> 
 Swadha creates rural champions by supporting them between 11th to graduation for 5-6 years. Our Support includes funding all costs related to education, job readiness training &amp; accommodation during these years. To make our beneficiaries transform holistically, we invest 2000 hours into enhancement activities such as 1 X 1 mentoring, digital tools, mental wellness training, English education &amp; summer internships. The mode of such training is a combination of offline &amp; online. Offline classes in Swadha owned training centres in Tier 4 towns and online through tabs &amp; airtel connections sponsored by us. We culminate our Support by helping beneficiaries to get a white-collar job. Today, we support 172 students from 150 villages. 60% of them are rural girls who have broken several glass ceilings until now. 80% of whom we support are first-time graduates breaking generational ignorance &amp; illiteracy.  We need your funding &amp; Support to help grow this initiative by creating more learning centres, employing key staff, providing digital literacy to expand rural youth’s knowledge, creating industry-specific job readiness programs, &amp; VERY IMPORTANTLY for enrolling more such students.
