Team Everest started its journey in August 2006 when founder Karthee Vidya completed graduation and joined his first job. Imagine, who paid your college fees? Parents, right?Now imagine, who will pay the college fees for students who are parentless and single parented? Many students drop formal education once they finish their school education. They do not join a college due to lack of funds. One of the surveys says that less than 10% of the population in India become graduates. Hence, there is a serious need to help students to become graduates. 
 'I am the Change Scholarship' is a program for 12th pass students from govt Schools in Chennai who are parentless, single-parented, academically strong and financially weak to do their UG degree.Apart from sponsoring their UG degree, we also conduct free employability training program on weekends for all our sponsored students through our 'First Penguin Club' initiative. The students undergo 100 hours of training every year from the first year of their UG degree.During their final year, we also provide them job placement specific training and expose them to various job opportunities.Students are not just beneficiaries. We at Team Everest believe that they are 'change agents' too. Hence, every student who receives the scholarship will also commit to certain number of volunteering hours each month to make a difference in the community they live in. 
 100 parentless &amp; single-parented students will become graduates and will help them find a job for themselves. This will help them and their family in overcoming poverty and living a better lifestyle.

Blackboards are an essential part of every classroom. But in many schools, they are not maintained properly, making it difficult for students to read from the board. Team Everest gets frequent requests from various schools every year to paint their school blackboards. 
 Team Everest is going to paint 2000 blackboards which will help 1,00,000+ students to have a better blackboard and a better learning environment. 
 Improving the condition of blackboards can help teachers to create a better learning experience in schools. We will be painting 2000 blackboards, an action which shall positively impact 1,00,000 students.

 We identify such children and sponsor them for their graduation as part of their 'I am the Change' Scholarship program.
