Healthcare

Many patients come to Mumbai for their cancer treatment because of many different reasons. The challenges faced by underprivileged patients are to be addressed more robustly and more awareness to be created about the same. There are many out of pocket expenses that these patients need to bear--accommodation, nutrition, supportive care, travel etc. 
 Due to the pandemic, patients on active treatment face many challenges, many have lost their jobs, others have difficulty in travelling to and fro, as it’s a logistical nightmare, and hence staying in Mumbai is the most logical solution. V Care plans to supports patients towards their chemotherapy, surgery, radiation etc. Bridging the gap and helping patients and caregivers with the maximum possible . 
 V Care has supported 1,78,226 patients in the year 2020-21 with our various interventions.. Our beneficiaries are people who live below the poverty line and come from across India. During these trying times, patients are dealing with not only cancer but also the risk of COVD-19 which adds on to their existing stress and anxiety of medical expenses.With the support provided the patients and caregivers are motivated to continue and complete their treatment, igniting the belief that 'HOPE' prevails.

Support towards active treatment for patients from economically challenged background.

More than 60% of the head and neck cancers are in Asia, India tops this list. It constitutes one third of the cancer burden in India and also it is the 6th most common cancer in the world. 80% of the patients reach for treatment at an advanced stage. This is one of the preventable cancers as it is lifestyle related. Oral squamous cell cancer is the most common type of oral malignancy which unfortunately has a high mortality rate as well. 
 Oral cancer is an extremely important health issue in our country as it is one of the most common types of cancer affecting a large population. It is the low-income population which is most vulnerable due to high exposure to the various risk factors as well as lack of knowledge regarding most of these. Low social economic class is associated with factors like lack of adequate nutrition, access to health care facilities, poor sanitary &amp; hygiene conditions and lack of awareness about the key risk factors of oral cancer. A diagnosis of cancer often leads to prohibitively high personal health expenditures which can be damaging for the entire family, often throwing off the complete financial stability of not only the patient but his / her immediate family as well. Head &amp; Neck cancers is one of the neglected area of support. The basic understanding being that those suffering with oral cancers are because of their lifestyle. It is one of the most ‘felt’ needs and has to be addressed. The age group who suffer are adults who are the bread earners in the family, many who are from economically challenged background. Men comprise 40% and around 8% are females. Below 40 years of age. Oropharynx and larynx cancer is most common in patients above 40 years of age. 
 In the last five years (2017 to 2022) V Care has partially supported 858 patients towards their active treatment out of which 83% are men and 17% are women (Rs. 1,33,36,000/-). Most of the patients are the bread earners of the family. Partial support has helped them to sail through some part of treatment and not the entire treatment. V Care aims to support maximum number of patients with full support which includes treatment, nutrition, prosthesis and rehabilitation. This support will not only impact the patients and their family psychologically but also economically.

V Care Foundation is a volunteer-driven, patient-centric organisation for the past 28 years, with the goal of providing comprehensive cancer care assistance through carefully developed intervention programmes. Mrs. Vandana Gupta started the organisation post her cancer treatment. V Care believes in empowering cancer patients with care from chaos to control.We have listened to and responded to patients' needs, expectations, and suggestions for the past 28 years. We ensure that your social investment has the greatest possible impact by limiting administrative costs to a minimum of 5%. We are delighted to inform you that we have supported 1,93,571+ patients with our various interventions in the year 2021-2022. Our beneficiaries are citizens living below the poverty line from across India.
