For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. The Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram has a dedicated rescue team that saves the elderly from the streets and gives them immediate medical care upon their arrival at the home. To tend to the multiple health complications of the seniors, the home has a medical facility with doctors and nurses, a physiotherapy unit, a pathology lab, a digital X-ray monitoring machine and a pharmacy to provide 24-hour care to older adults anytime they require assistance, even during emergencies. India is reeling under an unprecedented health emergency with the continuing surge in the number of COVID-19 cases and related deaths.The total number of COVID-19 cases in India stood at 18,368,096 and the death toll was 204,812 on 28th April -2021, with the day count crossing 360,000 cases. 
 World Vision India’s response will mainly focus on ·       Strengthening health care systems ·       Providing psycho-social support through trained community volunteers ·       Creating awareness around vaccination, making it accessible to all and enabling them to avail it ·       Strengthening community preparedness to deal with the surge of COVID-19  
 1)providing oxygen concentrators at the block and district level to 93 health care centres/ hospitals; this can be scaled up to 150 facilities.2)providing beds, tents, temporary structures and helping the Government set up COVID care centres (could be doubled as vaccination centres in the future) within the primary health centre and district hospital premises.

Through the Hunger Free campaign, we holistically respond to many facets of malnutrition and help save lives. We address the root causes of the issue and bring about just solutions to the complex issue of hunger and malnutrition. We are a proven and dedicated partner in ending malnutrition. Our relationship with vulnerable communities is a partnership of mutual respect, empowerment and accountability. We provide immediate food for today and empower families to produce their own food for tomorrow. 
 <ol><li>UMANG (Urgent Management and Action for Nutritional Growth)</li></ol>In keeping with the need for multi-dimensional approaches to combat malnutrition, World Vision India conceived and developed a nutrition-specific intervention for underweight children across the country for a period of 90 days. Through this community based feeding programme, children receive one meal and snack meeting the basic 600k calories needed, 25 grams of protein and 400 micrograms of Vitamin A requirements of children.2.FOOD BASKETChildren with severe acute malnutrition are referred to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) and a monthly food basket is given to these families for a period of six months followed up with health, nutrition, hygiene messages and counselling. This food basket contains a combination of rice, ragi, masoor dal, green gram whole, refined sunflower oil, toor dal, wheat, Bengal gram dal, soyabean oil and jowar as per the context. 
 To combat malnourishment among children, we use the Food Basket Programme. Children who are severely malnourished are referred to a health facility such as a nutrition rehabilitation centre for medical and therapeutic intervention. After that, we educate the mothers/caregivers on feeding practices. Once the children are discharged from the facility, we give them food basket for a period of 6 months. Food basket contains essential ingredients necessary to prepare a nutritious meal.
