YACT (Yoga Amirtham Charitable Trust) is a voluntary organization registered on 22.08.2003 under 12A and income tax exemption (80G) Act 1961. YACT’s primary beneficiaries are women and children. We aim at imparting knowledge to women through vocational training in the fields of computers, tailoring, typewriting, health and hygiene, counseling, entrepreneurship programs.We provide empowerment guidance centres and free evening tuition to the women. Mental Illness Health Awareness Campaign

Women of today are confident individuals. They want to become self-reliant and they also want to contribute to their families and children emotionally, physically, and financially. Because of their many work responsibilities, the physical, mental and reproductive health of women suffers. Reproductive health is an important component of general health and is a pre-requisite for social and economic development. Their reproductive health is affected because of inadequate and inappropriate health services to women. There is a need to educate and empower women about the basic requirements for women’s physical safety. These alternative/traditional medicine systems display a common holistic approach in which well-being is intrinsically linked to the integration and balance of the whole person-body, mind, and spirit in harmony with the environment and prevailing healing culture. The different healing techniques of alternative medicine help in preventing reproductive organ removal and cancer. 
 We are conducting health camps in rural areas, colleges and schools to educate women about the protection of women’s reproductive health in various districts. The alternative cure system is very new to women. We spread awareness about how to maintain good health by implying hygienic, healthy practices during menstrual cycle. We have been organising alternative medicine camps to help safeguard women's reproductive health. The combined system of alternative systems of medicine (acupuncture, homeopathy, naturopathy, yoga therapy, Ayurveda, siddha and unani) are explained to the women. During the camp, we explained the various stages of menstrual cycle to women and about how it affects women, both mentally and physically. We explained the side-effects of organ removal and the signs and symptoms of cancer to the participating women. We also gave free consultation in alternative medicine to all women. 
 We felt that self-help groups are important for creating awareness about health issues. We have observed that women have started to take interest in their health. They are trying out the alternative healing systems and coming back to tell us about the positive changes they are seeing in their health. We have noticed changes in women's health such as increase in haemoglobin and regularity in periods. Women have started to take care of themselves and their financial condition has improved. We are regularly conducting health camps and women are benefitting largely from them.

Women reproductive awareness and screening

Increase in medical misguidance with medication, especially oral administration of drugs (like glycogen, steroids and hormone inducing medicine) to adolescent girls in regulating the menstrual cycle(PCOD, myoma, endometriosis, fibroids) affects their reproductive health and function. And as women are carriers of progeny, it will affect the next generation as well. In our field experience, out of 100 women, 48% are anaemic, 35% have irregular periods, and 17% of adolescents have bone pain along with abnormal hair growth on the face and white discharge problems.Nowadays, most of the women are advised to opt for a caesarian delivery. Generally, post the operation, women suffer from the weakening of their digestive systems, and accumulation of muscles in the stomach. The spinal injection during delivery time may cause a lot of problems in the future, such as back pain and sciatic pain as well as spinal pain. During the early stages of the premenopausal period, the hormonal changes trigger a lot of stress, which in turn leads to morphological changes that interfere with the menopausal process. A lot of medical professionals take advantage of these women in distress and remove their organs without their knowledge. Modern medicine does not bring a curative solution to the problem. The system is capitalising on the woes of women.Women reproductive problems are on the increase, proportionally, due to physical and psychological stress, which leads to cancer. Due to the lack of proper nutrition and hygiene, a lot of complications arise which may even lead to cancer. 
 Since 2016, we have been conducting health camps in slum areas, villages, schools, colleges, and women self-empowerment groups. We are working towards creating awareness about the reproductive system of women and its functions through role plays, exhibition and camps.We are focusing on:- Encourage hygienic practices in general, and reproductive hygiene in particular, for paving a healthy life. - Impart knowledge on the cost-effective ways through food practice and alternative medicines.- Focus on the importance of preserving women’s reproductive health.- Conduct health camps to screen, detect, prevent the reproductive problems of women.- Suggest solutions for the reproductive problems from the alternative systems of medicine without side-effects. 
 11,145 women have benefitted from our project across various districts, including Madurai. Through this field experience, we have come to realize that women’s lack of awareness about their own health is creating a lot of problems for them.After a review of the camp, we have found that all women are slowly learning to take care of themselves and are becoming more energetic by the day.

We are concentrating on the psychological problem through counselling and alternative treatment support to recover mental health. 
 Counseling, psychotherapy, and alternative treatment like Acupuncture, Acupressure, Homeopathy treatment are support to recover from the mental illness. 
 The stresses relating to physical and psychological effect in the major organ functions brings morphological changes which change with the advent of body and mind. Through counselling and alternative treatment may reduce the stress and cure other diseases also.
