Human trafficking in India is a horrifying crisis. Thousands of victims, primarily women and girl children, are exploited in red-light areas. Over 10,659 cases were reported between 2018-2022, but experts say that these numbers are likely a fraction of the reality due to underreporting, yet they still do expose the magnitude of the crisis. Girls make up 71.4% of missing children in India and a large number of these girls end up at red-light areas. Sex trafficking is particularly gruesome, with girls as young as 12 sold for as little as a few thousand rupees.

Maharashtra is one of the worst hit state with largest number of Covid-19 cases in India. Ahmednagar, one of the largest district in Maharashtra ranks 10th with active 27,680 Covid positive cases in the country. ( As on April 28th, 2021) This second wave sent many more into a fragile health care system, critically short of hospital beds, oxygen, ventilators, medicines and food. The death toll in the second wave is higher than the first wave. Many children have lost their earning parent due to COVID-19. As a result, their future is bleak.  
 As a non profit and non political social organization, YUVAAN has been doing strong Covid-19 Relief Work at Ahmednagar since more than a year. YUVAAN has touched over 35,000 lives through our Covid-19 relief programs across 35 villages &amp; 3 cities of Ahmednagar district.1) Urgent Relief Kit having Groceries and Sanitary pads.2) Improvement of health infrastructure at rural Covid Hospitals. 3) Support for the education of Covid-19 affected children / students.4) Employable skill training to widows for making eco friendly products at their Home through our social Start-up ECO YUVAAN 
 Our COVID Relief Work is continuing in the following focus areas:<ul><li>6275 benefited from Dry Ration Kits which were distributed to support families suffering from the financial crisis. </li><li>15,000 Cooked Meals were served to migrant workers, daily-wage earners and others.  </li><li>4 Government Hospitals were supported with Medical Equipment including Beds, ICU Monitors, O2 Machines, Ventilator and Supplies worth Rs.66,00,000 to argument the healthcare efforts of the government. </li><li>15,000 Masks were distributed to control the spread of infection. </li><li>400 deprived children were benefited through educational material to help students continue learning.</li><li>12,365 migrants were benefited through our BACK2HOME program during lockdown. </li></ul>

They are forced by their circumstances to take up any kind of job they get in order to earn their living even though they would like to take up higher education. Many other students including differently abled are also deprived of equal opportunities for their higher education and employment due to their socio- economic situation. Girls are often married early or they are pushed in trafficking by showing greed and cheating. Boys are forced to work for extra hours for less money or also to steal from social nuisances.  
 Yuvaan provides orphaned, socially, economically underprivileged and differently abled students educational fees, material, counseling, career guidance, vocational skills training, lodging and meals as the need be free of cost. Our integrated support system helps them to achieve their goals they deserve. Yuvaan also focuses its activities to inculcate social sensitivity, brotherhood, love for the country and a humane perspective among them without any discrimination. 
 YUVAAN vision indicates that every youth have equal opportunity for higher education and employment regardless of their socio-economic status. It will help them to achieve more or what they deserve in their life. In this way we can bring Orphans into main stream of society and erase the seal of living as Orphans for life. It can also stop their exploitation and give them the right to live as normal human beings in the true sense of the world.

SWAVLAMBAN – Help The Higher Education and Skill Development Of Orphans

Their dreams remain unfulfilled as they step out into the world without any employable skill and with incomplete higher education. They are forced by their circumstances to take up any kind of job they get in order to earn their living even though they would like to take up higher education. Girls are often married early or they are pushed in trafficking by showing greed and cheating. Boys are forced to work for extra hours for less money or also to steal from social nuisances. Many other youths from backward community are also deprived of equal opportunities for their higher education and employment due to their socio- economic situation. Corona has adversely affected YUVAAN's educational, skills development and employment service work. Today, it has become more difficult than ever for students to pay for basic necessities like accommodation, meals, clothes, tuition fees. Most of these orphaned students have only the support of the youth in this world to survive. 
 Yuvaan provides orphaned, socially, economically underprivileged and physically challenged students vocational skills training, higher educational fees, career and employment assistance, lodging, meals and as the need be free of cost. Yuvaan also focuses its activities to inculcate social sensitivity, brotherhood and a humane perspective among youths without any discrimination. 
 Through YUVAAN, 241 disadvantaged students have been provided direct employment through higher education and skill development. 35,430 students have determined the direction of their lives through the YUVAAN’s PRERANA program.

HELP ORPHANS TO BECOME SELF RELIANT

Due to human errors, nature has regained its roaring form this year as well and Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Konkan were again hit by heavy rains and floods. In the last 5 days, 145 poor people have lost their lives due to heavy rain and flood situation. Hundreds are still missing. As many as 2,35,000 people have been evacuated due to the floods. The Indian Army has been called in as the flood situation has spiraled out of control. Already ordinary poor citizens have been hit financially by the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to heavy rains and floods, food, health facilities and shelter have become a major issues for millions of ordinary citizens there. 
 At present, there is no space left for the flood-affected migrants and deprived rural people to keep food grains, groceries and other necessities. Therefore, considering their urgent need for food, YUVAAN has started a community 'Seva Kitchen' from today till the flood recedes near Herwad in Kolhapur district.Team YUVAAN had to rush to buy grains and groceries from the grocery store where the area is surrounded by water. YUVAAN previously had good experience of service work there, so a large no of local youths are working as Volunteers with YUVAANSpecial assistance will be provided by YUVAAN for the education of deprived students in flood and flood prone areas along with food arrangements. With the financial support needed for immediate service work, Team YUVAAN also needs textbooks, stationary, bags and, if possible your old but working smart phone for the educational work of disadvantaged students. The role of these old smart phones is important for information, knowledge and communication in the current pandemic situation.In Mahad, Chiplun, Sangli, Team YUVAAN is also planning to provide grocery kits with the help of local volunteers and administration. Team YUVAAN has always tried to do immediate and more effective long term work for the victims by avoiding the flood of help coming only to certain places based on experience. Team YUVAAN has already carried out long term service (no help) for the flood victims in Chennai in 2016, Kerala in 2018, Kolhapur and Sangli in 2019.
