Deepalaya is an ISO 9001:2015 certified non - government organisation that was started on July 16th 1979 by seven founding members with the aim of fostering self-reliance and helping underprivileged children rise above their societal limitations.

We have been active in Delhi, Haryana, U.P. Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Telangana, Kerala, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh. For the last 44 years, we have interacted with several community members. Through these interactions, we have found that it’s not only illiteracy, but several other related factors such as – discrimination towards the girl child, marginalization of the differently abled, oppression of women and lack of basic healthcare, that contributed towards the stagnation of a child’s overall development.

To combat these emerging social issues we decided to diversify our involvement and address each factor with a separate programme. In short, our focus shifted from educating only the child to ensuring that the entire family becomes self reliant.
