The extent of the struggles here was beyond my imagination. These villages had no connectivity to the outside world, no healthcare, no education, there was absolutely nothing”, says Bipin Dhane founder of the school. Bipin, who grew up in the small town of Satara in Maharashtra, faced countless financial hardships. Despite his struggles, Bipin secured admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and then went on to take up a job in Singapore. Owing to his childhood experiences Bipin was always inclined towards helping the less fortunate, and he believed in the transformative power of education. It was in 2016 that Bipin left his lucrative career abroad and moved to Majuli, to provide the children from this inaccessible river island education they were deprived of.“Whatever little money I had saved, I gave it to my parents. I had no money to start the school. It was then that villagers came together to build bamboo huts. Each family donated bamboo, wood, and whatever little they could. Ekalavya Foundation (EF) is a Not-For-Profit organization started in 2006 and works in 15 districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (Niti Aayog Unique ID: AP/2009/0020709).As the name implies, Ekalavya Foundation seeks to transform the lives of socially and financially marginalized communities through its programs in Education, Livelihoods, Health, Agriculture, Environmental protection (organic farming) and Community Empowerment (RTI education, Farmers club, Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies, Federations etc.). To further improve financial standing of farming community, EF is working with farmers in their skill development in environmentally sustainable organic farming and hand-holding them to gradually shift from chemical-based farming to organic farming. In this regard EF has set up Ekalavya Centre for Organic Agriculture Research and Training (ECOART) and Ekalavya Organic Agriculture Polytechnic (EOAP) in Tandur mandal of Vikarabad district in Telangana with support from ONGC, Balaji Amines, RCFL etc. The training and courses offered at ECOART and EOAP are provided to farmers and rural youth.Ekalavya Foundation’ s AKSHAYA VIDYA project aspires to transform the lives of children in slums with the power of education. The vision of Akshaya Vidya is a society where every child has access to quality education irrespective of their background and is able to grow to his / her full potential. A dedicated academic team teaches basic English, Telugu and Maths to the target group of children between 1st - 6th classes. Often the teachers are from local communities, who are themselves, beneficiaries of education, acting as inspirational role models.  Leveraging technology and using creative methods, we create an enjoyable learning environment for children so that they develop an intellectual curiosity and confidence to pursue their dreams.Having started in 2011 with 4 children and a tutor, the Akshaya Vidya Program (AVP) has 150 centres with around 5000 students for the academic year of 2019-2020. Children study in the centres every evening spread across cities in the Telugu states.

COVID-19 has wrecked the whole world and caused damage like never before. The people worst-hit by this are those who depend on daily wages for their survival. Akshaya Vidya is Ekalavya Foundation’s educare project for the underprivileged children living in the slums of Hyderabad. Since the families of our tutors and students depend on daily wages for their survival. With no work and earnings, it was very difficult for them to feed themselves and their families. Hunger seemed to be a bigger challenge than COVID-19 for them. To help the in their struggle for daily food, We have distributed around 4000 grocery kits to the families of the students and staff of Akshaya Vidya Learning Centres. About 5 lakh migrants live in the twin cities and only half of them have been able to leave for their home States through Shramik trains. The scene at the registration centres is heart-wrenching as these people wait for their turn with family, holding on to their belongings with little money to fight starvation. The situation is pathetic as they're otherwise healthy, hard working, independent respectable people who are literally reduced to begging and/or starving. We have been able to do respond to the request of GHMC by supplying bread kits. The requirement is indeed huge.We have provided about 42650 kits till now with the financial support from like-minded people and organizations. 
 Our aim is to raise funds and distribute grocery kit and bread kits to the needy. 
 We plan to provide 96000 meals to the slum-dwellers through grocery kits or 40000 meals to the migrants leaving by Shramik trains through bread kits.
