“They insert a candle in the vagina, fingers are inserted (in the vagina) and tortured, and if children don’t relent even then, they put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. “I used to be sexually abused repeatedly, and when I screamed in pain, they hit and threatened me with more violence,” says Priya (name changed), a rescued child sex worker. Priya was abducted by traffickers and sold into a red-light area house before she was rescued by Guria led by Manju. For over two decades, Manju has been rescuing young girls forced into prostitution across the country. She has been shaken to the core seeing some of the most horrifying crimes that young girls have to undergo. “You can’t imagine the state of girls forced into sex work. The girls are given electric shocks and burnt with cigarette butts just to get kicks out of it. And if they get pregnant, the "owners" kick them repeatedly in the womb so that the child inside dies…If you want to see hell, it is here on this planet where young girls are sexually abused,” says Manju.Manju needs your help to rescue more young girls from forced prostitution and reunite them with their families. Donate now.Guria’s work over the yearsBased out of Varanasi, inarguably the holiest place in India, Manju and her organisation Guria, fights the sexual exploitation of girls, especially minors, by taking on the traffickers head-on, and rescuing and rehabilitating them.Started in 1993, Guria has rescued over 5500 persons from slavery, sex trafficking, and child prostitution so far. It has also been instrumental in shutting down hundreds of places that housed trafficked girls and putting scores of traffickers out of business and in jail.For instance, in 2005, a Guria-led rescue operation in Varanasi's red-light area led to the freeing of 49 women and girls, including minors. Many of them were kept against their will. Some of the traffickers were also arrested and tried. Since then, Guria has rescued thousands of young girls.Manju and her husband, Ajeet Singh began rescuing girls from Varanasi’s red-light areas and then working to stop the sex-trafficking of young girls within Uttar Pradesh and outside. The organisation’s aim is to eliminate the sex trafficking of women, especially minor girls, end second-generation prostitution and child prostitution, and rehabilitate women and girls who are rescued from the trade. Manju has faced violent backlash from the traffickers and other vested interests, but it has not deterred her from carrying on rescuing young girls from trafficking. Rescue and rehabilitationBesides rescuing girls trafficked for sex, mostly from low-income families, from across the country, Guria fights on their behalf in courts and also provides education, food, vocational training, and other facilities until they are united with their families. But because of a lack of funds, Guria is finding it difficult to rescue more girls and also take care of them once they are away from the clutches of the traffickers. Take the case of Sameena (name changed), who was abducted from Uttar Pradesh all the way to Telangana. Guria took it upon itself to rescue the girl with the help of its own work and also the authorities. After months of rehabilitation, Sameena went back to her family and even completed her education. In its legacy of 48 years, the trust has successfully ameliorated the fortunes of hundreds of orphan students. Our Orphan Care programme is dedicated to providing quality assistance for orphans regardless of their religion, creed or gender. It also strives to ensure orphans receive the basic necessities of life – providing them with food, clean water, regular medical check-ups and education.Schooling Assistance to 150 orphan and destitute students.Quite a good number of orphan students outside our orphanages approach us for financial help in respect of their educational courses. These types of cases after proper verification are registered in monthly schooling assistance programmes where these orphans are provided schooling assistance through their bank accounts on monthly basis. This assistance ranges from Rs. 500-3500 per month. Hundreds of students in this programme have been able to complete their respective courses and earn a livelihood, thus living a dignified life now.Wedding Assistance to 350 grown-up orphan/Destitute girls. The true delight and compassion of being a human lie in understanding humanity. In coming to terms with the love of care for a human by a human. This is the cornerstone for making life beautiful. We value this principle more than anything. We take a complete stock of this joy sprinkling spell. We bring smiles to the faces of orphan brides. Provide them with all those items which establish that cordial sense of ambience of being a complete one. Fashion, Customs and modernization have made marriages more expensive and extremely difficult for the needy, poor and orphans in today’s society which has resulted in the fact that a huge number of young girls, who have attained the age of marriage are not able to bear the expenses of so-called modern marriages. It’s a fact that these ridiculous cultural norms were not prevalent in our society some years back. For poor and Orphan girls who have reached the age of marriage and their families are not able to bear the expenses of their marriages, the J&amp;K Yateem Trust provide such girls with a marriage/wedding kit, which contains all the necessary items, a poor bride needs for her marriage. It includes clothes, toiletry items, shoes and sandals, a shawl and other necessary items. Vocational Training to make the people under the faith of our Trust’s roof more secure, we are implanting knowledge of many valuable crafts and computer skills in them. We share our prominent realization with the fact that time stands tougher than anything. Poor, orphan and destitute ailing patients are being provided one-time medical assistance under this programme of the Trust. This assistance enables these patients to purchase medicine and other treatment-related items. This is in addition to the monthly medical assistance provided to widow-headed families registered with the Trust. Under the one-time medical assistance programme, an amount of Rs. 3000-10,000 are provided per patient. One-time medical assistance is generally provided to persons with health problems like surgeries, implanting of pacemakers, dialysis, etc.Times forever and always we have stood firm to save lives. From rescuing to providing basic necessities in all the impending days we have never taken a back stand. We breathe with this responsibility of putting ourselves forth in all times of disaster and calamities. We have a body of our own that stays prepared to withstand all the odds thrown by the nature indiscriminately. The 2014 flood is a vivid example of our commitment to salvage the people stuck in the chaos and impediment of helplessness.Banks these days as intermediaries stall more on the interests to maximize profits. They have choked spaces for the economically weak segment of people. The loans they provide are never less than the deeds of dreads. As in, it plunges people into the dark abyss to repay back more than what was taken. Therefore, we provide interest-free loans to all those people who require no properties and capital as their mortgage. Unlike banks, we work more as an institution providing financial support to people on the basis of goodwill. Nevertheless, we provide loans to transform lives and make fortunes instead of depriving the weak by maximizing profits with the leverage of imposing huge taxes.Aid to the poor Health is wealth. Without good health life is ominous. Many people often fell prey to begging for saving the lives of their loved ones. We cater financial support to all those families and people who suffer to have better health conditions. We extend our support to all those penniless people who fall short to treat their severe ills. We provide a package to them which at the minimum helps them to replenish a tiny requirement in their treatment.

There are more than 8000 permanent beneficiaries of JK YATEEM TRUST in all branches of JK. Due to poverty, lack of funds, and family conditions they are not able to start anything of their own. JKYT has deeply analysed this issue and has come up with different projects from time to time. One of them in our Pampore branch is the Gulshan craft and computer centre. The idea is to make the people under the faith of our Trust’s roof more secure, we are implanting knowledge of many valuable crafts and computer skills in them. Due to a lack of funds computers, raffle and pashim pashmina equipment have not been introduced yet in this unit. The goal of applying for this grant is to make this unit equipped with all-in-one computers, pashim pashmina equipment’s etc 
 This centre has been established with the motto to enable orphan girls and young widows to become self-reliant by learning crafts like pashmina shawl skill, Shah Tush, and Raffal, cutting/tailoring, Tilla embroidery, needle embroidery, sweater knitting, Technical computer courses, etc. These widows/ orphans/families after getting the training in some of the mentioned crafts are able to earn Rs. 20000-30000 per month. Due to a lack of funds computers,raffal and pashim pashmina equipment have not been introduced yet in this unit. The goal of applying for this grant is to make this unit equipped with all-in-one computers, pashim pashmina equipment etc. Besides this, a trainer would be needed. 
 There has been a profound impact on this project. More than 3000 widows/girls have been given training from this centre since 2019 in different technical fields like pashmina shawl skill, Shah Tush, and Raffal, cutting/tailoring, Tilla embroidery, needle embroidery, sweater knitting, Technical computer courses These widows/ orphans/families after getting the training in some of the mentioned crafts are able to earn Rs. 20000-30000 per month. Main Areas of impact:-1.
