For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. If the children don’t relent even then, the abusers put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. In these unprecedented times, where we face hardships of the Pandemic, the Cyclone and floods – we need to support each other and rebuild our lives together. With millions being affected, women and children continue to be the most vulnerable. While most people struggle for the basic essentials, Women’s health has slipped down further in the list of priorities within and outside the family."Her Health First" is a campaign to support menstruators. We make menstruation a priority by distributing health kits to those who are in need. The Health Kit @ Rs 500 each will comprise a set of 3 UGER reusable pads, 2 UGER masks (as per government guidelines) and a bar of soap, all items contained in the UGER cotton potli. The UGER cloth reusable pads are made of 100 percent cotton, are washable reusable, safe for the body and environment. Each pad will last for over 1.5 years. Jatan has conducted health screening in Rajsamand, Railmagra, and Khamnor blocks of Rajsamand district in South Rajasthan and identified Critical and severely (SAM) and moderately malnourished (MAM) children.These children have a high risk of death from common childhood illnesses such as Diarrhea, Pneumonia, and Malaria in the face of extreme levels of Food insecurity, limited access to basic services, disease outbreaks, and limited access to health and WASH services. Malnourishment Prevention activities to improve the health and wellbeing of these children:<ul><li>Children who fall under the cut-off for severe acute malnutrition will be provided an adapted diet (food basket) that allows them to regain a normal nutritional status. The diet will particularly account for a malnourished child’s elevated nutrient and energy requirements for catch-up growth.</li><li>Ensuring to have a proper kitchen garden at homes.</li><li>Weekly health tracking and home-based support will be provided by trained staff</li><li>Recipe trials will be conducted by the team and ensured that the beneficiary can cook nutritious food for the child with the help of AWW.</li><li>Immunizing their children and following proper sanitation in their day-to-day life</li></ul>A Food Basket contains :<img src="https://cfstatic.give.do/ee38c2ce-f515-4835-9383-6091997d6918.png" /> <ul><li>More than 1500 children will move out of the malnourishment cut-off to the normal category.</li><li>Positive change in food consumption habits of targeted families.</li><li>100% immunization among the targeted children</li></ul>
