For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. “The abusers insert a candle or fingers in the vagina of children torture them. If the children don’t relent even then, the abusers put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. When children stay in these conditions, it is painful even to hear,” says Lalitha SA of the Society for Participatory Integrated Development (SPID), while talking about many heart-rending stories of trafficked children in red-light areas. In over three decades, the team of SPID led by Lalitha, has saved over 3000 children from the red-light areas in Delhi, such as GB Road, and many from clutches of sex trafficking. About 400000 children are on the streets in India, who are vulnerable and deprived of their basic rights. Our Project Kutumb Village is an effort to provide rehabilitation services and shelter to the destitute children & children at risk. We at present have strength of 44 children (29 girls & 15 boys) living at Kutumb Village – our residential care centre. As per the government guidelines we need to accommodate the boys of age group 11-18 years in a separate building. Due to the lack of infrastructure the boys are living in the community centre building which is a temporary arrangement till we construct a boy’s hostel. This has restricted us to limit our services and intake of more boys who need shelter like this. 
 We aim to complete the construction of the boy’s hospital by 2016 end. The 1700 square feet hostel with 3 floors will accommodate the 15 boys and we also welcome other boys who plan to join us. As of now, we support the kids financially only till they turn 18 years of age but with the construction of this hostel we will increase this age to 24. 
 The hostel will serve as a house for the boys who are orphan until they are financially independent. It will provide them with a conducive environment to nurture their personalities. We will be able to enroll many more boys and help them turn an asset for the society only with your contribution.
