We have seen people picking food from the garbage out of extreme hunger.”, recalls Ayesha of Mitti Cafe, while talking about the extent of hunger faced by senior citizens. According to Ayesha, there are thousands of elderly who have been either chucked out of their homes or have been left behind in villages by their children. “Our elderly don't deserve this life and it is our responsibility to come to their aid. “A blind child is often seen as a curse or a burden to the family, leading to abandonment. I’ve picked up children from roadsides myself. I too lost my sight as a child, but today I’m a senior officer thanks to the National Association for the Blind, Delhi (NAB). What would I have done without their help?” asks Veena Mehta Verma, a beneficiary turned advocate for NAB and its mission to protect and care for blind children like herself.The state of young blind girls abandoned by their families and without education is even worse. “Blind girls have no future without education. Education is crucial to their future. Without it, they face neglect and limited opportunities, ignored not just by their families, but by society at large. What I am today is only because of the education I received. But sadly, every blind girl is not as fortunate. Trust is duly registered under Indian Trust Act. 1926, 12 A of Income tax Act, FCRA Act, and also under sec 52, 53 of persons with disability Act. It also avail the benefit of tax exemption under section 80 G of income tax Act.At present Trust is running 4 projects in 3 different places for visually impaired, hearing impaired, multiple disability, deafblind children.

The concern of the Mathru is to promote the inclusion of children ( persons )with disabilities to live with dignity and self- esteem in the mainstream society through equality and opportunities by providing academic and non - academic skills. 
 In order to reach out the above mentioned concerns ( goals ), Mathru is running a free residential school for the blind and hearing impaired, children and thus provide quality based education from grade one to grade tenth. For the adult visually impaired and hearing impaired children , Mathru provides prevocational and vocational skills like screen printing, beautician courses, horticulture, baking classes, book binding, paper products and tailoring. Mathru is also running rehabilitation center for multiple disabled children like, mental retorted, cerebral palsy, autism by providing necessary life skills and also prevocational and vocational skills. 
 Mathru empowers the differently abled children with quality education, skill development programs and vocational training and thus ensures that such children lead their lives with dignity and self respect without burdening their families or the community with their economical stability.
