“They insert a candle in the vagina, fingers are inserted (in the vagina) and tortured, and if children don’t relent even then, they put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. And the worst affected are the children who grow up in red-light areas and are subjected to constant abuse and violence. “The sight of a 12-year-old girl being gang-raped by a group of men near a house l haunts me to this date. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. Due to chronic poverty, there is a widespread malnutrition and health and hygiene issue. The area also has a lot of unemployment, very few quality educational and vocational institutes which leave the youth with not much scope to move out of hunger and malnutrition. Similarly the women do not have much scope of empowerment due to lack of any support from any government and non - government bodies. The majority of the population is from backward areas and minority communities. They are generally not very literate or they are school dropouts.  
 The aim is to make individuals skilled so that they are employable and hence financially independent. All are given compulsory spoken English to be able to get them to be more employable in this fast changing city.They are given Life-skill training too. Each course is of a 3month duration followed by a short Entrepreneurship workshop wherein they are taught how to market their skills. An examination is conducted at the end, after which they receive a certificate of completion. Some of the courses are -<ul><li>Apparel making </li><li>Beauty and Wellness training</li><li>Mobile repair training program.</li><li>ITES courses (IT enabled services) :- </li></ul>·         Advance courses (Tally, DTP, Photoshop, Excel,)·         MSCIT·         Klic Courses·         NIT Courses·         WEB Designing·         Graphics Designing                                     The aim is to make individuals skilled so that they are employable and hence financially independent.  <ul><li>1800-200 youth and women who are disadvantaged will be skill trained and empowered to earn a livelihood annually.</li><li>Hence they will be financially independent and contributors to home and society.</li><li>They get increased social acceptance as a result.</li><li>The results in the previous years suggest that the vocational training programme improved the livelihood of the youth and women who underwent vocational training which helped them sustain through self employment/ Jobs, which in turn improved their standard of living. </li><li>Vocational training is often seen as an important step which will lead to employability skills and empowerment of the disadvantaged youth and women.</li><li>Almost 30-40% get employment either through jobs or start their own work from home.</li><li>For Tailoring we have our own OJT Centre which provides work for our pass outs. Many of the beneficiaries have been employed by us too.</li><li>Many of the beneficiaries chose to do advanced courses after doing basic courses. This generally indicates that they are really serious about taking the course as a vocation. Such beneficiaries are carefully monitored by us and the promising ones are nurtured and helped to take up higher education, further professional training and nominated to special workshops.</li></ul>

Dharma Bharathi Mission seeks to improve the employment chances of drop-out students or students, who stopped school between the 8th and the 10th Standard. Reasons of dropping out are lack of funds, migration, and family conditions.Through providing high quality training in fields such as tailoring, mehendi, para nursing and beautician, as well as computer courses, students get the chance to improve their skills and therefore find an angle to enter the workforce.We provide training to more than 1800 young adults every year in three centers located in Govandi, Trombay and Santa Cruz providing them with the skills needed to succeed in the labour market. We are constantly looking for partners to support the infrastructural and financial needs of the program.Your small contribution can have an enormous impact on the future of a young adult:

India is ranked 100th out of 118 countries with a serious hunger situation by the Global hunger index report in 2017.A 2019 report published by the United Nations highlighted that India alone reported deaths of 8.8 lakh children below 5 years and pointed out that malnutrition and hunger caused 69% of these deaths in India.India has the highest number of children who are malnourished, about 57 million in all. 25000 people die every day due to hunger and malnutrition in the world. Out of these 7000 are in India. An equal number are marginally malnourished or at least suffer from sub nutrition 
 We are serving 2000+ students with meals and working for their development.a. Ensuring students’ interest in school and improvement in attendance rate by providing healthy meals daily. b. Making the parents stress-free by providing regular meals so that they can focus on their jobs and thus emphasizing improving financial stability. c. Increased enrolment ratio in schools as families will be willing to send children to school if standard food facilities are provided. d.
