The Genesis of Sadguru

N M Sadguru Water and Development Foundation (NMSWDF) initially worked under the banner of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust from 1974 to the end of 1985. In 1986, N M Sadguru Water and Development Foundation was registered under its present name as a separate legal entity with the same mission, activities, areas and core management.

The organization is popularly known as Sadguru Foundation, and it is one of the India’s premier and pioneer NGOs known nationally and internationally for its expertise in water resources development and management and rural poverty alleviation through appropriately designed water-based agriculture interventions. It is a non-political, non-profit making, and secular organization, registered under the Public Charitable Trust Act, 1950 under Registration No. F/113 dated 21.02.1986; the Societies Registration Act, 1860 under Registration No. GJ/124, dated 21.02.1986; and the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 1976 under Registration No. 042070038. The Departments of Rural Development, Tribal Development and Water Resources, etc. in three states, Gujarat ; Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have duly supported Sadguru for the implementation of Government programmes for the rural and tribal communities. Similarly, Government of India, have also recognized Sadguru as one of the premier Institute in Rural Development.
