For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Only 58% of India’s 355 million menstruating women use sanitary napkins. Over 88% of women resort to shocking alternatives like unhygienic cloth, ashes and husk sand. Incidents of reproductive tract infection are 70% common among these women. According to a study by Times of India 70% of women cannot afford to buy sanitary napkins in India.﻿The Challenges faced by menstruating women:1. Lack of Closed Spaces2. Use of Cloth/Paper/Unhygienic material over sanitary napkins3. Lack of knowledge4. Social Taboos5. The Silent Treatment. 
 To solve this problem, we have started an initiative “Free Days Happy Days” where the girls shall be given a pack of 8 pads every month. It also addresses various problems faced by girls in their starting stages of the menstrual cycle, through education and awareness.Hence, we have created a 5 session program for giving them an understanding of menstrual cycle, usage of pads and benefits.The Program aims to focus on 2000 adolescent girls from different government and non-government schools for one year. They will be provided free hygiene kit within 6 sessions of education on the menstrual cycle, causes, problems, usage of pads and its benefits. 
 1. Free Sanitary pads distribution of a group of adolescent girls for at least 1 year2. Counselling program for girls’ on usage and benefits.3. Creating awareness, access to a clean menstrual cycle and thus boosting the confidence ofadolescent girls.
