Nilona dam was built 40 year ago in order to supply water to Yavatmal. Gradually, storage capacity got reduced due to large quantity of accumulated silt leading to reduction of water supply to Yavatmal. Afterwards, Prayas took a pledge and carried out desilting project starting from April to June 2015. Team of 50 volunteers at Prayas, Yavatmal worked hard and removed 35,000 trollies silt and were given free to farmers of surrounding villages in order to increase the fertility of their farms. 12,000 citizens had visited Nilona dam for Shramadan. Citizens of Yavatmal contributed Rs. 25 lakh and remaining Rs. 11.43 lakh were provided by government of India. 
 For 2016, target of removing 1 lakh trollies silt has been set and will be distributed to farmers of surrounding villages for no cost. The actual work of desilting has been started on 6th March. Till now, 500+ trollies have been desilted. Our aim is to remove around 1000-1200 trollies silt per day. We will be spreading awareness in Yavatmal about proper water usage along with tree plantation and catchment area treatment so as to reduce the silt accumulation in future. 
 Citizens of Yavatmal have already taken the ownership of the project. The government of India also came forward to work with Prayas on this project. This became the PPP project model, which can be replicated anywhere. The fertility of agricultural field will get improved by use of silt and followed by increasing the farm yield. Also, awareness about proper use and conservation of natural resources will increase. Through awareness programs we intend to sensitize the cause and work on building capacity of our volunteers.

The Society to Save Rocks aims to preserve and protect the spectacular ancient granite formations of the Deccan Plateau, India - a natural wonder of stony ridges and hillocks shaped into picturesque balancing forms.To prevent the indiscriminate destruction of this natural, historical, and environmental heritage, a group of artists, photographers and environmentalists from Hyderabad have been working for the protection of this rocky landscape since 1992. In 1996, they formed themselves into a registered society, and since then, the Society to Save Rocks has expanded to include many other citizens, from students to housewives to businessmen and bureaucrats (300 members).The Society wants to impress upon landowners, developers and the government that our beautiful granite boulders could be preserved in houses, gardens, colonies and park areas.

The hillock at Khajaguda, called Fakhruddingutta, is a very unique spot having rocks of various shapes and sizes balancing at unimaginable angles. These rocks are about 2.5 billion years old. Fakhruddingutta boasts of not only these rock formations but is also home to an 800 years old temple, 770 years old Dargah and Meher Baba's meditation cave. The Society to Save Rocks has been working at ensuring that these rocks stay preserved. To ensure that there are no illegal encroachments, the Society and its partner GHAC, regularly conduct various programs. Amongst these is the Rockathon. The program attracts people of all ages who not only participate in a variety of activities but also learn to spread the awareness about the need to conserve and protect the Deccan rocks that the city is so blessed with. 
 The Society to Save Rocks has been in dialogue with the Telangana Tourism Department and the HMDA, to consider and re-enlist this area as a protected precinct and to make this place into a tourism park which would provide various activities related to rocks, thereby promoting the protection and conservation of these magnificent rock formations. The Rockathon 2018 would have many activities like rock walks, rock runs, mountain biking, rappelling, zip-lining, bouldering which shall form part of the sporty category of event. There shall also be a quiz and snake demonstration which shall be quiet educational. The recreational segment shall have treasure hunt, rock balancing, painting to mention a few. 
 Fakhruddingutta hillocks are not far from the city and yet provide much natural beauty and space not only for the citizens but also for a variety of flora and fauna including reptiles. The Rockathon 2018 aims at highlighting the importance of this area and the need to preserve this special eco system. Rockathon 2018 would provide the citizens of the city with a day of leisure and recreation in our stunning landscape. It would also give the citizens an opportunity to experience the ancient rockscapes up close, learn about the geology of the rocks, the flora and fauna that grow in and inhabit these landscapes.
