“What will happen to them after me? I am 80+. I spend sleepless nights,” worries ex-Air Force officer, Group Captain AC Barua while talking about the future of the 28 destitute women under his care. “They have nobody in this world, sometimes they don’t remember their own names. They are absolutely alone,” he informs us as he goes from one room to the other meeting all the women who live at Seneh, the only home where they are loved and taken care of. After fighting for his country all his life, this octogenarian is now fighting to rescue homeless and abandoned women from dying on the streets. But he cannot do it alone. “Everyday I keep on getting calls from here and there. ‘Oh! there’s a woman lying here. Can you help?’ But I don’t dare to go and help because I don’t have the money. I don’t have the resources, our resources are very limited,” explains Gr. Capt. Barua who is lovingly called ‘Sir’ and ‘Deuta’ (father in Assamese) by the residents of Seneh. With your help, 80-year-old Group Captain Barua can fulfill his mission of rescuing abandoned and homeless women from dying on the streets, alone. Many times these are women with mental health conditions and considered being a witch due to superstitious beliefs and beaten up as a result. They are victims of domestic abuse or widow mothers who are considered to be a burden on the family. Group Captain Barua has not only rescued them from critical conditions, he has provided them with urgent medical care, food and above all, a free safe shelter where they can live with love and care. Among these residents is Sarala Kalita who fled to save herself from the tortures of her alcoholic husband only to face neglect and trauma from her brothers- and sisters-in-law. “Both my brothers and their wives urged my father to leave me somewhere as they didn’t want to take care of me anymore. One day my brother’s wife didn’t even let me have food at home. She just wanted me to leave and go away. So that’s why, my father got in touch with Seneh through someone, and handed me over to Sir to take care of me,” says Sarita who has found joy in living at Seneh. “Coming to Seneh, it felt like I got a new life altogether. Sir has given me a harmonium. I love singing. It makes me forget everything and takes me to someplace else entirely,” she adds. More women like Sarala can find their way to a loving home like Seneh. All they need is a little bit of your kindness. “It is difficult to make both ends meet”To sustain their daily expenditure, Capt Barua needs approx ₹3 lakh a month and arranging the funds is a mammoth challenge for the NGO. “Our expenses are growing day by day. Residents are growing older, their sicknesses are increasing. At times we have to give them special food. They require more care so we have to get more employees. About half of them require leading around, 1-2 has to be fed also. It will be very difficult to sustain it unless we get help,” he added. One act of your kindness can save these abandoned women, with no one in this world, from struggling on the streets to survive. Cattle, bred for profit and abandoned after they stop producing milk, are often found malnourished, injured or sick on city streets. Many face bitter winters, starvation and death in road accidents - a sad fate for cows in a country where they are revered by lakhs of people. To save cows from such a sad end, Swami Ishwar Das started Shree Krishnayan Desi Gaushala, currently home to 18,000+ abandoned cows. But with the rising costs of fodder and medicines, he is struggling to provide the quality of care such mistreated animals deserve. “It was in 2010 when I witnessed abandoned cows from the streets in Uttarakhand being transported in a truck. The cows were administered anesthesia and stacked one above the other like lifeless goods. When me and a few of my acquaintances brought the cows off the truck, two of them died before my eyes and that sight shook me to the core. It was then that I started Shree Krishnayan Gaushala with 11 abandoned cows in a small donated land,” says Swami Ishwar Das.Swami Ishwar Das is unable to bear the rising cost of nutrition and medical care for injured cows and needs support to continue to save these voiceless animals. The NGO - Shree Krishnayan Desi Gauraksha Avam Golokdham Seva Samiti - spares no expense in providing nutrition either. The Global Education &amp; Leadership Foundation (tGELF) is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. We seek to nurture 21st-century leadership and entrepreneurial skills based on ethics, altruism, and a bias for action in young individuals through a unique, interactive, and progressive curriculum developed in collaboration with the Graduate School of Education Harvard University and Teachers College Columbia University, USA. This long-term and sustained leadership curriculum called SKILLD (Skilling &amp; Know-How Initiative for Lifelong Leadership Development) is being deployed in rural and urban schools across India. The leadership and entrepreneurship curriculum is for all students in the class. All students undergo the curriculum sessions facilitated by the teachers of the schools. In classes 11 &amp; 12, a selected group of students forms the Leaders Club which adopts community action projects thereby making the leadership experience more practical and meaningful.Each year tGELF conducts teacher training workshops across the country in nodal areas on our leadership curriculum SKILLD. This is an activity-based, experiential curriculum with 10 session modules each of about 40- 60 minutes to be facilitated by the teachers identified by the school and trained in the annual workshops by us. The training workshops don’t just inform the teachers on how to facilitate the tGELF leadership curriculum sessions, but also enhance their pedagogy so that they can make their subject lessons more engaging and the learning process more enjoyable for the student. Apart from the deployment of the curriculum, tGELF offers opportunities to students through our annual youth fest called Harmony. Harmony is a unique melange of competitions, workshops, events, and lecture series bringing together school students 13 – 18 years of age from across the country and internationally. These competitions are our annual endeavour to identify leadership potential and honour today’s youth for their outstanding acts of community service, lending voice to action, and bringing positive change in our communities.

Despite major advances over the last few decades, much of the youth are often left out of career opportunities and face a plethora of barriers due to lack of adequate access to education and skills to thrive in an ever-changing job market.Covid-19 has further exacerbated the educational divide in the country and worldwide, curbing access to education for most of the youth, widening the pre-existing skill gap for employability, and overall bringing to light the vulnerability of the systems in place for building leaders of change.Our organization actively focuses on issues concerning empowering the youth and creating an intervention to provide a more efficient system for them to thrive in leadership and educational spheres. We aim to make them future job-ready by instilling 21st-century leadership and entrepreneurial skills. We address gaps in education and industry requirements by providing holistic development to the youth to empower them to be at the forefront of the decision-making process and nurture them to become changemakers of tomorrow.For the last 14 years, tGELF/JA India has been working with over 3 million students and 70,000 teachers pan India. We work with youth within and outside of schools, both school students and job seekers.  
 We address the above concerns by working for the holistic development of students through a comprehensive system that imparts measurable, critical 21st-century skills aimed at job readiness. We will do this by engaging stakeholders in a range of workshops, webinars, and job shadow programmes. We will conduct sessions on CV &amp; Interview Skills, Coding &amp; Engineer Skills, Data Analysis using Excel. We will also conduct workshops on Shares &amp; Stocks, Financial Cash Flows and IPR for our JA Company Program students.In addition, we aim to organize a job shadow programme to provide undergraduate students with a unique opportunity to explore an industry, organization, or job function while shadowing FactSet executives. Herein, students will be matched with a volunteer for an hour of hands-on and rewarding career exploration to sharpen their career focus, network with alumni, gain industry contacts, and increase confidence in their professional skills. Volunteers will also be engaged in the judging panel in Harmony: JA Company Programme (Regionals &amp; National Finals Rounds), a flagship tGELF/JA India initiative where students get exposure to challenging international platforms and are encouraged to participate by taking the lead in Solving pressing global problems through their startup ideas.We seek to nurture 21st-century leadership, entrepreneurship, and work readiness skills based on ethics, altruism, and a bias for action in young individuals through engaging, activity-based learning. 
 This project seeks to positively impact the youth by promoting 21st-century job-ready skills as a panacea to the most pressing challenges of the job market today. Over the duration of the project, we plan to give equitable educational opportunities to all involved stakeholders. We are looking at an approximate cumulative impact of 850+ students (directly) and 50,000+ students(indirectly), along with a total of 150+ teachers. In addition, we aim to engage a total number of 249 FactSet volunteers in this project. With a specific focus on student age group from 11 to 18 years and teachers in the age group of 25 to 60 years, FactSet/JA India is envisioning to significantly improve education outcomes in youth where they have the ability to analyse, reason, think critically, and have greater problem-solving skills, which in turn, provide them with an increased ability to make and act on decisions in an ever-changing job market. We also wish to significantly improve teaching pedagogy through skill-building and reskilling of teachers.
